PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

The primary responsibility of the Sr. Manager, Business Accounting & Financial Operations is to lead a team of accounting and financial employees with various levels of experience responsible for the day-to-day journal entry, reconciliation, invoicing, budgeting, forecasting, cash management and financial performance monitoring for the Constellation Energy Solutions business. The team performs a variety of accounting and finance-related assignments within the business unit, including recording financial transactions according to GAAP and construction accounting principles, reconciling accounts with documentation, and developing & preparing company financial statements and financial reporting for the various business departments. The Sr. Manager develops and enacts strategies to deploy resources to achieve these deliverables and meet the changing needs of the business, while ensuring that the team’s deliverables are met accurately and on time. They anticipate issues that could adversely affect the business’s financial reporting and P&L goals and works closely with junior team members and peers across the CES business and corporate functional groups to remediate issues. The Sr. Manager also coordinates the biannual Long Range Plan (LRP) development and refresh process and develops and provides in-depth financial reporting to senior leadership.

Expected salary range of $140,400 to $156,000, varies based on experience, along with comprehensive benefits package that includes bonus and 401(k)

LOCATION

This position offers hybrid flexibility and can be based out of our Baltimore, MD headquarter office or Pittsburg & Warrendale PA; Lowell, MA; or Chicago, IL offices. As a hybrid role, an in-office presence will be required for meetings and collaboration as needed, but the majority of time this role will allow the flexibility to work from home.

Travel will also be required for this role, with visits to our Pennsylvania and/or Massachusetts offices, anticipated 1 trip per quarter.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads the Business Accounting & Financial Operations team, determining work and resource allocation and managing employee development and performance. (30%)

  • Leads CES monthly financial close activities, ensuring monthly journal entries are completed accurately and in a timely manner to meet internal reporting deadlines. (25%)

  • Coordinates with internal business and corporate finance teams to aggregate supporting data and determine drivers for forecast updates in monthly financial management reporting and/or the Long Range Plan (LRP). (20%)

  • Works with business leads, including project managers, to monitor and provide department and project-level reporting of financial activity and assist in the entry of the latest monthly estimates and budget updates. (10%)

  • Engages in the maintenance, updating, and continual improvement of the Company’s enterprise financial management platform, including set-up, monitoring, and updating of projects, plans, and schedules for all dollar-denominated project activities. (10%)

  • Assists corporate Asset Accounting and Tax functions in reporting capital project details, with supporting documentation to assist in the calculation of any taxes and tax-related incentives. (5%)

POSITION SCOPE

  • Level and depth of supervisory activities: Team lead role with direct reports

  • Number of direct reports (Span of Control): up to 10 FTEs & Contractors

  • Budget Accountability, impact on asset management, and organization revenue: High – Department OpEx Budget responsibility and financial accounting and reporting

  • Level of independence, decision-making authority, strategic planning accountability: Moderate - Works under supervision of Director

  • Internal and external contact relationship: Moderate – mostly within CES business and across various BSC groups; financial system vendor

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.

  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) Certification (or eligibility)

  • 10+ years of accounting experience focused on project management and/or construction, including project planning, forecasting, and controls

  • Demonstrated technical knowledge and understanding of accounting theory, principles, practices, and regulations including GAAP and SOX compliance

  • Understanding of requirements for documentation in work papers, disclosures, and memos

  • Commitment to highest standards of quality and integrity, a high degree of professionalism, a respectful workplace

  • Ability to prepare documents using word processing (MS Word), presentation (MS PowerPoint) and spreadsheet (MS Excel) applications

  • Ability to work under stressful deadlines while maintaining a positive, constructive attitude

  • Willingness to travel to other Company offices and customer sites, as required, to coordinate project control information.

  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to consume large amounts of data and detailed information within a fixed time frame and identify and communicate the key points to support an analysis or result

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in accounting and/or MBA

  • Energy Services & Infrastructure and/or Construction Management experience is desirable

  • Experience working with Deltek Costpoint, Oracle financial applications, Maximo, and Primavera (P6)

  • Prior management or leadership experience, including managing and/or supervisory direct reports and contract employees

  • Intermediate to Advanced proficiency in Excel preferred, including Pivot tables, V-lookups, etc.
