PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Conducts/assists in the maintenance, repair and installation of protective relay schemes, metering, remote control and data systems and capacitor control and protection in substations, and work activities as follows:
Interprets engineering documentation and technical specifications with regard to installation and maintenance of protective relaying schemes, metering, remote control and data systems and capacitor control and protection equipment.
Completes field revisions to associated drawings and documentation.
Performs operational tests on selected protective relaying schemes, metering, remote control and data systems, performing the necessary tests, adjustments and repairs.
Conducts/assists in scheduled inspections, tests and calibration of protective relaying devices, metering, remote control and data systems and capacitor control and protection, as well as in the verification of control and protective circuit diagrams.
Responds to system/equipment problems to determine operability or need for repairs.
Participates in the investigation of trouble on protective relaying, metering, remote control and capacitor control and protection data equipment.
Utilizes a wide range of general purpose and specialized electrical and/or electronic testing equipment and instrumentation.
Performs basic switching, grounding and tagging out equipment as required.
Is responsible for safe conduct of field related activities.
Working knowledge of mathematics up to and including trigonometry.
Demonstrated ability to operate computers and associated software.
Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to carry equipment weighing 60 lbs.
Ability to be certified in CPR and First Aid.
Valid drivers license and ability to meet Company driving standards.
Minimum of two years experience in installation and testing of protective relaying, metering, automatic control and data communications systems or equivalent combination of formal education/training and experience.
