Primary Purpose
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
A senior lawyer who is a highly qualified attorney handling complex legal matters and projects on behalf of the Company.
Primary Duties
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Under minimal supervision, plans, conducts and supervises complex legal assignments, necessitating ability to evaluate matters which may have a major bearing on the conduct of the Company's business; evaluates both legal and business risks and advises clients accordingly. Interprets and applies organization policy according to law. Represents Exelon in agency proceedings and/or relevant litigation. (75%)
Prepares, and revises as necessary, budgets and early matter assessments for all matters involving outside counsel. (10%)
Provides lead direction and/or project leadership direction to less experienced attorneys and support staff. (10%)
Projects / duties as assigned. (5%)
Job Scope
JOB SCOPE
Works independently and with other attorneys on complex real estate and other commercial matters with Business Units and outside counsel.
Familiarity with title, survey, and title insurance matters.
Experience with land use and development permitting.
Familiarity and/or experience working with Maryland local and state-level real estate laws and regulations.
Demonstrates superior legal judgment in the business context.
Demonstrates ability and willingness to solve complex, difficult problems and be very proactive in doing so.
Minimum Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An LLB or JD from an accredited law school and be licensed to practice law in the relevant jurisdictions. At least 7 to 10 years of professional experience in a specialized area of law. Possesses and applies a comprehensive knowledge of principles, practices and procedures of the legal field to the completion of complex assignments. Requires excellent legal research, analytical abilities and on ongoing knowledge of federal or state law. Must have the ability to communicate clearly - both orally and in writing; to read and analyze legal materials and other data; to work in stressful conditions under time deadlines.

At least 5 years of professional experience in the commercial real estate area of law.

Annual salary will vary based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $164,000.00/Yr. – $225,500.00/Yr.
