SAM LLC Utility Engineering Phase Manager in Austin, Texas

Your Impact at SAM

A Utility Engineering Phase Manager is responsible for the oversight and assistance on projects. This role is the key member of our project team. EITs assist with the day-to-day operations including oversight of cad staff, troubleshooting field staff issues, logistics, scheduling, and the tracking of deliverables. They are responsible for assisting with proposal writing, participating in professional societies, and staff development.

  • Coordinate SUE project activities

  • Review and interpret utility plans / records to assist with SUE investigations

  • Manage SUE tasks and projects including budgets, schedules, and contracts.

  • Assist in organizing and conducting pre-field kick off meetings

  • Provide guidance and direction, as appropriate, to the on-site SUE project staff

  • Support project manager during the project close out phase

  • Process field survey data

  • Develop and manage proposals, budgets, schedules, billings, and contracts

  • Prepare project deliverables

  • Track project budgets and schedules

  • Communicate with project stakeholders as assigned

  • Monitor SUE project field activities

  • Coordinate and manage project subcontractors

  • Effectively interface with sub-consultants and as well as other business relationships

  • With concurrence of the project manager, administer the change order process; review requests for schedule or cost adjustment and negotiate changes to the contract; prepare change order documents for approval

  • Plan, schedule and coordinate SUE project activities

  • Assist with the coordination, development and production of proposals, SOQs and presentations, ensuring the highest quality of information and documentation output

  • Review implementation of established procedures with preventive and corrective actions

  • Perform other tasks as assigned to help accomplish the Company’s strategic goal

What You Bring to SAM

  • Must demonstrate Certificate of Engineer in Training (EIT). PE preferred.

  • Experience in SUE, utility engineering and/or utility coordination is a plus

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil or related Engineering program

  • Thorough knowledge of Client / DOT specifications and standards is a plus

  • Experience with Microsoft Project scheduling software preferred

  • Proficient in MS Word / Excel / Outlook

  • Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D

  • Proficient or strong knowledge of Microstation

  • Motivated to develop business from new and existing clients

  • Availability to work outside normal business hours as required

  • Basic understanding of fundamental cost accounting practices

  • Excellent listening, communication and organizational skills

  • Flexibility to travel to construction sites for extended periods and work outside of normal business hours
