About the Role:

LS Power is seeking a regulatory staff accountant to be responsible for maintaining accurate books and records, analyzing financial transactions, performing financial reporting, and providing timely and accurate data required for regulatory reporting of LS Power’s regulated utilities.

Responsibilities

What you will do:

  • Support general ledger processing; prepare/enter month-end and other required journal entries

  • Review transaction classifications within the GAAP general ledger and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts

  • Assist with preparation of financial statements, including footnotes and audit documentation

  • Perform account reconciliations for a variety of balance sheet and income statement accounts

  • Perform bank account reconciliations to support month-end close

  • Prepare support for monthly sales and use tax filings

  • Review accounts payable information for accuracy and completeness prior to entry in general ledger

  • Keep accounting management informed on issues within the assigned areas of responsibility and supply support for any financial data requests

  • Prepare budget and forecasts based on actual and projected information

  • Provide accurate data for the completion of regulatory reports and filings

  • Follow emerging GAAP and interact with peers within the utility industry to determine how new guidance potentially can or will affect the Company and/or the industry

  • Ensure data request responses are complete, accurate, and timely

  • Ensure information provided is accurate and presented in a useful and understandable format

  • Perform other duties as assigned to help the Regulatory Accounting team

Qualifications

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (Master’s degree or CPA desirable).

  • Have at least one year of accounting work experience.

  • Have Basic knowledge of GAAP, company accounting principles, procedures, and practices.

  • Possess working knowledge of regulatory accounting and the FERC Uniform System of Accounts (preferred but not required).

  • Hold strong Microsoft Excel skills and general business systems knowledge.

  • Can effectively manage and complete assignments on time, possess excellent organizational abilities, and pay great attention to detail.

  • Are a team player with the ability to collaborate effectively with different levels and functions of the organization.

  • Possess strong analytical and reasoning abilities, with strong numeric skills and quantitative acumen.

  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
