About the Role:
LS Power is seeking a Director or Vice President of Business Management to oversee LS Power’s Transmission only Utility in ERCOT. The Vice President or Director will have management responsibility of the transmission utility’s business, including growth opportunities, capital planning, rate recovery, legislative and regulatory policy, stakeholder relations and compliance. In this role, you will have support from and collaborate with subject matter experts across the functional groups supporting the business including operations, maintenance, planning, compliance, accounting, regulatory, and rates. This position will report directly to executive management with exposure to all facets of the business.
Responsibilities
What you will do:
Plans, organizes and directs the day to day operations of the business.
Develops policies, strategies, and programs to support business objectives.
Lead new business development initiatives across the Utility working closely with the Legal and Regulatory teams
Review, evaluate, and recommend asset strategy projects and long-term plans in collaboration with the Asset Management & Transmission Planning teams.
Manage and mitigate asset related business risk and opportunities.
Guide and direct the regulatory and legislative affairs team in ERCOT
Relationship building with key stakeholders
Work closely with the Legal & Compliance oversight team to ensure compliance with NERC, FERC, and standards of conduct for the utility
Act as the subject matter expert on all commercial agreements and ensure compliance of contract and other asset obligations.
Prepare, manage, and monitor annual budgets.
Understand and apply industry standards, applicable state and federal regulations.
Prepare status reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
Management of small capital projects or initiatives as required
Oversee asset integration for new projects / system expansions in close collaboration with the Project Development and Project Management teams
Work closely with the Accounting & Rates teams regarding all aspects of the Utility including rate filings
Qualifications
We want you on our team because you:
Hold a BS in Engineering (Mechanical/Electrical preferred) from an accredited university.
Bring a minimum of 10 years of experience, preferably in the electric utility, consulting, or contracting industry
Are proficient in Microsoft Office Suite of applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Project
Understand accounting and financing principles including the FERC chart of accounts
Possess knowledge of regulated utilities including experience with NERC compliance obligations
Have experience working with ERCOT, TRE & the PUCT (highly desirable)
