Pay:

This is an exempt/salary position. The pay range is $152,000-$186,000. Pay may vary depending on your location, skills, and experience.

What You'll Do

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Project Management provides direction and management for projects and ensures on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations. The Director is responsible for the oversight of Senior Project Managers and Managers of the department for scope development, scope management and commercial performance of the project to meet project goals and objectives. May have responsibility for subtasks of larger programs. Plans and defines program goals and devises methods to accomplish them; develops in-depth knowledge of client objectives, contract terms, and corporate policies. Should be familiar with the integration of engineering, procurement, and construction activities. Serves as the company representative for Operations, clients, and selected subcontractors during the project execution stage.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensures best of class project management disciplines are being executed, and that consistent, effective communication plans are in place to all key stakeholders.

  • Strong understanding and experience working with a variety of contract models including: EPC, MSA’s, T&M, Lump Sum and Not to Exceed.

  • Identifies issues and assess project risks quickly and proactively, taking appropriate actions as needed.

  • Consults with IT leadership and sub teams to build strategic technology programs and project roadmaps for Operational Standardizations and tool sets.

  • Develops and tests tool sets that support Project Management best practices and provides the appropriate level of information capture, reporting, control, information sharing, and management insight to senior leadership.

  • Oversees the development and maintenance of common standards and methodologies and training for project management team.

  • Negotiates changes to the scope of work with Operations, clients, and key subcontractors.

  • Markets and secures additional work with clients.

  • Responsible for following up on instructions and commitments associated with the project.

  • May participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and in public meetings in support of clients with Operations.

  • Oversees establishment of Project Execution Plan, Health and Safety Plan, Quality Assurance/Quality Control Plan, and other documents as required.

  • Establishes the program requirements including project execution plans for all areas projects and monitors the draft and final deliverables for adherence to these criteria.

  • Supervises Sr/Project Managers and assigns responsibility for executing project plans after careful assessment of how to utilize their qualifications and strengths.

  • Provides input to performance reviews and development plans for direct reports. Field responsibilities may include knowledge of labor relations, local procurement, and payroll operations, etc.

  • Works with other managers, project engineers, and discipline leads to develop budgets, schedules, and plans for the various elements of a project.

  • Ensures that projects meet or exceed goals established in the plans.

  • Works with the key project individual to devise and execute actions plans to rectify potential cost overruns or delays, or to accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.

  • Timely advises the client and company management of the potential for and actual significant changes to scopes of work.

  • Responsible for maintaining current and timely change orders.

  • Promotes technical and commercial excellence on the project through application of Quality Assurance processes.

  • Monitors and reports to management on the progress of all project activity within the program, including significant milestones, and any conditions, which would affect project cost or schedule.

  • Establishes regular meetings to review project status and formulate action items.

    Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

What You'll Bring

QUALIFICATIONS, CERTIFICATIONS, SKILL, EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A Bachelors (4-year) degree in Project or Construction Management, Engineering (or related field) required.

  • PMP Certification required.

  • A minimum 10 years of related work experience and a broad general engineering background are required.

  • Previous project management experience on similar or related project types is required.

    Additional Requirements:

  • Proven ability to perform in a management capacity.

  • Excellent written and oral communications skills.

  • A thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations working in the public utility space are required.

  • Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate project management or engineering software for use on project as required.

  • Ability to multi-task effectively while maintaining focus on deadlines.

  • Ability to travel with possibilities of extended overnight stays.

  • Subject to environmental conditions: Activities occur inside and outside.

  • Physically lift 25 pounds and walk throughout the workday at sites.

Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $152,200.00/Yr. - USD $186,000.00/Yr. depending on experience and qualifications.
