Generation provides safe, reliable, affordable and environmentally-sound energy to our customers by effectively managing PG&E’s portfolio of generating assets which include Renewable Generation, Fossil Generation, Hydro Generation, and Energy Storage.

PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates one of the largest privately-owned hydroelectric systems in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California’s Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountain ranges, include 67 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 98 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 25 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Position Summary

Manages major contracts for Power Generation. Act as subject matter expert on all managed or assigned contracts. Utilizing the Utility Contract Management Standard for the Contract Management Lifecycle, this position is responsible for leading the implementation of contract and vendor governance and accountability as well as training and guiding others. The successful candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of contractual provisions around performance of select strategic contracts and execute a process to track and assess that performance requirements are being met so that contractual remedies may be enforced and contract value achieved.

Comprehensive knowledge and experience of managing complex contract(s). Demonstrates an in- depth understanding of Power Generation business as well as the Contractor's business and is able to balance both interests when making decisions related to making Contract strategy, interpretation and resolution decisions. Ability to take a new perspective on existing solutions to solve complex problems.

Possible travel required.

Work location: Auburn Service Center located at 12840 Bill Clark Way.

Job Responsibilities

  • Contract Management - Primary PG&E contact responsible for all aspects of the Power Generation/PG&E/contractor management relationship. Ensure contract provisions are managed and applied appropriately. Resolve disputes with the counter-party before escalating to Legal. Represents as Power Generation/PG&E representative externally and acts as contract advocate internally.

  • Contract Lifecycle Management- Develop expert capabilities around development and implementation of the Contract Management Lifecycle; Contract Development of Strategy, Scope and Performance. Contract and Supplier On-Boarding including terms validation, supplier mobilization and performance monitoring program development. Contract Administration to include accrual booking, good receipts posting, and invoice validations. Contract performance monitoring to include Risk management and mitigation, claims and dispute management. Contract Closeout, including scope completion validation, financial budgetary reconciliation, and warranty compliance requirements.

  • Project Management - Work collaboratively with key stakeholders to ensure timely deployment of scope and deliverable requirements, and facilitate the resolution of issues relating to supplier Contract performance against Contract obligations.

  • Policy and Compliance - Develop and maintain documentation for policies and procedures with regard to the Contract Management Lifecycle and to ensure effective and sustainable controls are in place to meet compliance requirement.

  • Billing and Settlement Compliance - Ensure the contract provisions are accurately reflected in the invoices. Communication with the PG&E billing representative to make sure that any contract amendments, settlements, adjustments, etc. are reflected in the billing calculation.

  • Provides technical direction to other Contract Managers on the team.

  • May negotiate policy or contractual issues independently.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, engineering or related degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience in supply chain, procurement, finance or other related field

Desired:

  • MS degree

  • Knowledge and experience in contract negotiations.

  • Understanding of settlement and billing processes.

  • Ability to present findings and recommendations to functional management.

  • Ability to lead process improvement initiatives.

  • Experience creating and managing key performance indicators that align with operational, financial and contractual goals

  • Experience identifying, tracking and reporting cost savings

  • Experience with contract audits strongly preferred
