PG&E’s Power Generation Department manages and operates the largest privately-owned hydroelectric system in the nation. These renewable electric generation resources, located mostly at high elevation in California mountain ranges including the Sierra Nevada and southern Cascade mountains include 68 powerhouses, 184 miles of canals, 41 miles of flumes, 135 miles of tunnels, 19 miles of penstocks, 99 reservoirs, and 142,000 acres of watershed lands all covered by 26 operating licenses issued by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
Researches, designs and develops technical, system and soft skill curriculum content. Partners to conceptualize training design, content, and delivery methodology. Defines curriculum learning objectives and course outline, as well as participant and facilitator materials, hands on activities & environments, testing & evaluation structure, and safety and human performance tools. Engages in the front-end of a project performing documentation analysis. Completes a detailed analysis of each task to be trained/supported for target audience, business process, and systems. facilitates meetings.
Bachelors Degree in Instructional Design or job-related discipline or equivalent experience
Experience in project planning
Experience in training and instructional design, 5 years
Ability to conduct training needs analysis to identify training gaps
Define curriculum learning objectives and course outline(s) designs (complex) curriculum, and develops/builds training content and materials using expertise.
Develop assessments and performance evaluations; preferably experienced with Question Mark
Previous experience developing both instructor led and web based training materials; preferably in Articulate Storyline.
Ability to evaluate, track, and make adjustments of all training material for increased future effectiveness; preferably experienced in Metrics that Matter
In-depth experience with the following applications/systems: MS Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
Ability to travel locally up to 40% in role
Experience working in the Energy/Utility industry
Experience with benchmarking or research of industry-wide best practices
Experience with designing and/or integrating multimedia development or technology across curricula
Instructional Design Certification from industry recognized Association or School (e.g. ATD)
Masters Degree in Instructional Design or Education
Ability to facilitate an Answer Validation process in order determine appropriate cut scores; Psychometric certification is a plus
Knowledge of Learning Management Systems (LMS) to define and track profile management; preferably My Learning.
Familiarity with PG&E Academy curriculum development processes
Previous experience or certifications in curriculum delivery; CompTIA ++ or INPO certification preferred
Competency in developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences
Competency in making sense of complex, high quantity, and sometimes contradictory information to effectively solve problems
Competency in seeing ahead to future possibilities and translating them into breakthrough strategies
Uses SME/LOB meetings and best practices to develop content to support the course objectives and assessment
Reviews metrics that provide data for process measurement, business operations or risk assessment
