Roles within Standards Engineering are responsible for the development of standard operating procedures to be applied throughout the Company for the construction, operation & maintenance of gas distribution, transmission, and production facilities. This includes ensuring Company operating procedures are kept current with Federal and State requirements as well as natural gas industry best practices. The team also develops material testing procedures and associated documentation. The team may also act as Subject Matter Experts providing technical support to the operations function as well as other functional areas within SJI.
Develop, revise, and update Company operating procedures
Ensure Company standards are kept current with Federal and State requirements as well as natural gas industry best practices
Assist with distributing updating procedures to Company and Contractor personnel
Prepare material testing procedures and associated documentation
Maintain approved materials list and approved tool list
Participate in industry organizations as Subject Matter Experts
Performs other duties assigned
Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering with 2 years of relevant experience. Mechanical, Environmental or Civil degree preferred.
Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
Strong Communication (Written and verbal) and presentation skills
Detailed-oriented with very strong time management skills
Ability to work collaboratively and effectively as a member of a diverse team
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
Familiarity with gas pipeline operations and practices.
Understanding of 49 CFR Part 192 and NJPBU (NJAC 14:7) regulations
Experience writing technical specifications
Ability to read and interpret engineering specifications and drawings
Basic proficiency in AutoCAD or other computer design software
Working knowledge of Microsoft SharePoint and Power BI
Must be a self-starting individual, with ability to handle multiple assignments and to prioritize task.
