Position Summary
A career in Customer Service will provide the opportunity to provide customer service relating to collections/energy assistance as well as general customer inquiries. This typically includes ensuring that good customer relations are maintained, customer claims and complaints are resolved fairly and effectively, in a timely manner, and in accordance with consumer laws. Verifies the identity of new and existing customers. Additionally, this involves ensuring good customer relations are maintained.
Roles within Customer Service are responsible for providing the best possible service in relation to billing inquiries, credit and collection, service requests (usually related to gas turn-ons), suggestions, and complaints, as well as customer verification. This also includes providing and monitoring energy assistance to those who qualify. Additionally, this may include providing customers with information on programs available for energy assistance.
Hybrid
Hours: Monday – Friday, 8-4:30 PM; Monday & Fridays working from home
Possibility for overtime on Saturdays 7-3:30 PM
Essential Functions:
Handle and/or provide support for inquires elevated by team members to ensure a high level of customer service to customers.
Work cross-functionally with other departments.
Empower and motivate team members to provide great customer experiences with helpful knowledge and a caring approach.
Build/maintain functional knowledge of responsibilities and systems to support participation as an SME on departmental and corporate projects and initiatives. This may include participating in UAT testing.
Generating new and innovative solutions to complex problems.
Acting as a team lead, coordinating the work of others, but not a supervisor.
Anticipating patterns and links; looking beyond the immediate problem to the wider implications.
Coordinates training with reps and completes all continued career development requirements.
Assist with assigning the day-to-day workload and utilize reports to monitor the production of union staff.
Monitor daily incoming/outgoing Collection Calls as well as attendance and adherence to ensure we are meeting customer needs.
Evaluate “To Do” tasks, Collections reports/projects, and completion rates and make recommendations to improve performance and ensure performance standards are met.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Background:
High School Diploma or GED
Requires a minimum of 4 years of related experience.
In addition, 1 year as a mentor/coach to entry-level staff/team members is required.
Required Skills:
Advanced arithmetic skills
Strong written and oral communication skills
Ability to make judgment calls with confidence, problem solve, delegate, and disperse workload to the unionized workforce.
Works where necessary to accomplish a continuous flow of work within the department.
Attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills.
Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines.
Strong MS Excel and Word skills
