Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Training Manager to lead our learning and development strategy, manage its implementation and measure its impact. The primary responsibilities of the Training Manager include the development, implementation, execution of Volt’s technical training and apprenticeship program for transmission and distribution field services. This includes the responsibility of managing and updating curriculums, documentation and monitoring of training records, implementing an LMS, and managing Dept of Labor apprenticeship requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Identify training needs according to business and region needs

  • Based on research, plan and implement training programs and apprenticeships that will prepare employees for the next step of their career paths

  • Responsible for planning, scheduling and enrollment process

  • Present all the technical and supply training requirements

  • Prepare budget for training programs and workshops

  • Evaluate Volt’s technical training programs identify weaknesses

  • Lead in the design and development of curriculums

  • Oversee employee attendance and performance

  • Track employee success and progress

  • Communicate all the training programs on a timely basis

  • Recruit trainers; lead, teach, onboard and evaluate new trainers

  • Ensure training team is prepared and able to deliver training courses

  • Bring guest presenters if necessary

  • Implement training KPIs

  • Prepare and present reports on training program KPIs

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Electronic, electrical, transmission & distribution, lineman and/or power plant experience

  • 8 years of experience as a Technical Training Specialist or similar role

  • 4 years of experience with designing training programs and workshops

  • 3 years of experience with learning management software

  • Military training experience is preferred

  • Knowledge of various training and teaching methods

  • Ability to lead a full training cycle

  • Good knowledge of talent management and competency matrix methods

  • Excellent decision making and organizational skills

  • Sense of ownership and pride in your performance and its impact on company’s success

  • Outstanding managerial skills & great team leader

  • Experience with Dept of Labor apprenticeship programs and requirements

  • Great interpersonal and communication skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office and database software

  • BS degree in Training, Engineering, or related field or equivalent is preferred
