SURVEY SPECIALIST POSTING
The Survey Specialist (Office) is responsible for support of field surveying activities as well as ensuring quality and accuracy of all Land Engineering products. The survey specialist supports a variety of internal clients and possesses a high level of surveying & mapping skill, expertise and knowledge.
This position may be filled as Survey Specialist Level III, IV or V. People who demonstrate advanced skills in terms of work experience, education, and certifications may be eligible for the more advanced position.
High school degree, required
A Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Surveying and Mapping, Geomatics, Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related degree.
Minimum 2 year of field and/or office surveying and mapping experience (or college related course work) preferred. A combination of both field and office experience is a plus.
Working knowledge and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D or comparable mapping software is required.
Experience with PLS-CADD is preferred.
Experience in geographic information systems (GIS) is preferred.
Experience in global positioning systems (GPS) is a plus.
Working knowledge of survey data processing using a variety of available software.
Excellent computer skills required.
Excellent organizational and time management skills required.
Experience with LiDAR data and/or laser scanning data is a plus.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Comprehensive knowledge of land and construction surveying concepts & techniques.
Ability to read and understand surveying and property documents and drawings.
Understanding of property research needs in support of field survey.
Knowledge of the various survey coordinate datums and projection systems and their differences.
Knowledge of specific software/databases including Carlson data collection software, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and ArcView, PLS-CADD.
Understanding of CADD Mapping, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), Global Positioning System (GPS).
Use of basic office software (MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel, PC file folder systems, etc).
Good communication skills, ability to work with a team, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
Quality control and quality assurance of all surveying and mapping products.
Processing of field data for boundary, topo, volumetric, hydrographic, etc. surveys using Carlson software and/or company specific software and perform mapping/PLS-CADD tasks as required to complete projects.
Provide first line support to Land Engineering field survey and office mapping staff.
Update procedure documentation for Land Engineering processes, as needed.
Provide training for Land Engineering production staff to ensure that field data acquisition and office mapping is performed accurately, efficiently, and completely.
Stay informed on Land Engineering status for assigned projects and provide timely feedback to update progress schedules.
Ensure surveying and mapping products are delivered to clients on schedule.

Licenses and Certifications:
Must have a valid Georgia driver’s license.
LSIT certification or RLS certification in Georgia a plus.
Other Job Requirements:
Approximately 25% travel requirements.
Must be able to commute daily to Downtown Atlanta office.
