Financial Analyst (2 Positions)

APC Financial Planning and Budget

These positions are responsible for developing, coordinating, and monitoring all capital and O&M financial activities at the 14 Alabama Power Hydro Plants and 18 Georgia Power Hydro Plants including the accounting, budgeting, and financial reporting processes; assisting in the operational business process; and analyzing cost in a manner useful to management for decision making. These positions will also support Generation outage budget development, spend and tracking across all fossil plants.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the field of accounting, finance, economics or another business-related field required.

Knowledge:

  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint required.

  • Ability to make recommendations to management based on financial trends and projections.

  • Understanding of budgeting, cost tracking and financial projection techniques and methods.

Skills:

  • Excellent analytical, accounting, budgeting, and creative problem-solving skills.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Personal ownership, initiative and leadership.

  • Ability to work independently, as well as under direct supervision or in a team environment.

  • Ability to multitask and prioritize multiple assignments with changing priorities.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide financial analysis and support to the Hydro Plant Superintendents, Hydro Managers, and O&M Manager.

  • Provide financial analysis and support of the Fleetwide Hydro Modernization Program.

  • Develop ten-year capital and O&M budgets with the assistance of key stakeholders including T&PS, Project Managers, Engineers and Management.

  • Research and report monthly/yearly actual to budget variances and trends to plant management and corporate support.

  • Provide quantitative analysis and financial evaluation of capital and O&M expenditures.

  • Support regulatory data requests and audit requests.

  • Support Generation Corporate and Financial Planning on assignments such as generating plant outage spend tracking and other special projects.

  • Provide financial analysis and support as it relates to metrics reporting to outside entities such as Electric Utilities Cost Group (EUCG), National Hydropower Association (NHA), and others.

  • Play a key role in implementing and adopting Enterprise Foundations.

  • Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, sharing best practices, and business learning opportunities to support successful implementation and adoption of Enterprise Foundations.

  • Building strong working relationships with internal and external business partners to develop a deep understanding of the business.
