Southern Company Distribution Construction Coordinator in Atlanta, Georgia

The Distribution Construction Coordinator position at GPC is a critical role responsible for overseeing both overhead and underground new construction and maintenance. The role is available at either an exempt level 4 or 5, depending on the candidate's experience and abilities.

Job Summary:

  • Reports to the Distribution Construction Supervisor.

  • Manages overhead and underground new construction and maintenance projects.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate contract resources to meet safety, budget, productivity, schedule, customer satisfaction, and quality goals.

  • Responsible for scheduling/planning, pre-construction meetings, quality control, inventory, and project close-out.

  • Communicate effectively with other departments, internal and external customers, builders, developers, electricians, etc.

  • Work closely with Joint Trench partners and The Power Services Organization for billing and customer satisfaction.

  • Metro Service Coordinator will oversee all New Service Installations in the Metro Area, ensuring commitment dates are met, conducting crew site visits, reviewing and approving invoices, minimizing trip charges, and removing roadblocks.

Job Requirements:

Education:

  • High School education or equivalent.

Experience:

  • Extensive Region Distribution engineering and/or construction experience required.

  • Proficient in computer skills (Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel), Distview, ARMS, CSS, TCMS, and JETS preferred.

  • Ability to analyze drawings, blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other project documentation.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proven negotiation skills.

  • Ability to effectively interact face-to-face with customers (Developers, Builders, Communication Companies).

  • Ability to motivate and influence others to get work completed.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects/tasks over a large territory.

  • Ability to schedule and prioritize work.

  • Ability to set clear expectations and deliver results within a deadline.

  • Ability to adapt positively to change.

  • Demonstrated support of management initiatives.

Other Requirements:

  • Work schedule: Monday through Thursday, 4 x 10 workdays. Additional hours may be required for Storm duty, plant outages, etc., including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

  • Available for Storm Duty.

  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
