JOB SUMMARY – Business Process Manager

The location for this position is flexible between Atlanta, Birmingham, and Gulfport. While these roles are expected to be hybrid work, approximately 25% travel is expected for this leadership role within the electric operating company footprint. For this reason, it is preferred that resources are located within the electric service territory for this leadership position.

The primary responsibility of the Business Process Manager is to lead the teams responsible for defining and delivering the business, functional, and technical requirements for Data Conversion. This position will oversee the implementation and completeness of business processes, in support of multiple business units and across functional areas.

The Business Process Manager (BPM) is accountable for making key To-Be process decisions across workstreams and aligning with other Business Process Managers to ensure that processes flow end to end and any changes to the processes are communicated to the correct stakeholders across the organization to ensure alignment and knowledge of anticipated changes.

As the program progresses, the BPM’s focus shifts:

  • When the process is being designed: BPMs focus on To-Be process key decisions and aligning across workstreams and external parties to identify and capture change impacts

  • When the system is being built and tested: BPMs focus on decisions related to organizational changes, impacts of workarounds to customer operations, and communicating relevant impacts to employees.

  • When employees are being trained: BPMs focus on decisions related to training/Day 2 and making sure the whole organization is ready for deployment.

The Business Process Manager will be responsible for managing issues and risks within their business process areas and coordinating and collaborating with leaders across the Customer Information System (CIS) workstreams as well as within the business to ensure successful design, integration, testing, and deployment of the application in alignment with the CIS solution.

This position will have direct, indirect and project delivery responsibilities for key decisions, to serve as a point of escalation, and to resolve issues across the workstream teams when issues cannot be resolved at the team level. The Business Process Manager will also escalate issues that impact other project teams or require additional business signoff to the corresponding Product Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills )

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, MIS, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred

  • 5 or more years of experience in the utility industry with at least 3 years of experience leading cross-functional departments and teams preferred

  • Successful experience converting critical systems

  • Successful experience partnering directly with business to deliver critical technology projects

  • Demonstrated experience building cross-functional relationships across technology and business leaders

  • Experience negotiating with business and technology team members on scope, timeline, and budget to deliver quality business application projects

  • Experience managing structured data to ensure reporting and analytics needs are met

  • Experience identifying exceptions in data and designing data conversion solutions for mitigating project and business risks

  • Experience with implementing repeatable processes using data driven metrics to show progress and improvement readily understood by leadership, business partners and technology team.

  • Outstanding credibility and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships within the company and industry, as well as with vendors/suppliers

  • Broad knowledge of the utility business functions including Customer Service and Billing

  • Ability to lead and manage through change. Should be recognized as a change agent

  • High degree of initiative and personal ownership

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

MAJOR JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving to the To-Be vision and end to end coordination between process areas

  • Ensuring integrated Customer to Meter (C2M) & Customer Experience (CX) business processes have data needed to conduct business processes, make operational decisions, and achieve reporting & analytics solutions.

  • Ensure solutions are provided for historical data that is not converted to the new C2M Oracle system

  • Aligning across the organization

  • Identifying and coordinating with relevant stakeholders for each process stakeholders to make sure the proper input is captured throughout

  • Working in collaboration with the Business Process Managers & Leads to review proposed processes, make decisions during the design and conversion process, and facilitate discussions with stakeholders

  • Make key functional decisions and communicate to leadership and stakeholders any decisions that would impact operations or change existing processes

  • Serving as a leader of the transformation

  • Communicating relevant process decisions and impacts to other workstreams and teams

  • Participating in change management and training activities

  • Participating in deployment planning, day 2 planning, and knowledge transfer activities

  • Working knowledge of major system data conversion methodologies, techniques and quality assurance processes.

  • Working knowledge of Functional Design Documents, Technical Design Documents and Requirements Traceability matrices

  • Serve as a point of escalation when issues cannot be resolved by team members and Business Process Leads or require cross workstream coordination

  • Maintains leadership engagement and consults/informs leaders across the organization on key decisions that have business, reporting and analytics impacts

  • Resolves resource challenges and engages additional resources from the Technology Organization and Business as needed to provide SME assistance or support project activities during peak project times

  • Work collaboratively with all C2M towers to plan, execute and test data conversion results.
