Accountant - Nuclear Development


Position Summary

This position will provide accounting and budgeting expertise, analysis and reporting for multiple levels of management. This position will ensure charges for the Vogtle 3 & 4 Project are accurately recorded and budget variances are timely and accurately documented and reported. This position will also assist with the financial oversight of the Vogtle 3 & 4 Project, including internal control assessments, invoice audits, and process documentation.

Position Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide budgeting and accounting guidance to Vogtle 3 & 4 Project

  • Provide analysis of budget variances and projections

  • Support co-owner and Georgia Public Service Commission semi-annual cost reprojection process

  • Support Georgia Power and Southern Nuclear’s annual budgeting processes

  • Prepare presentations and other informational documentation for executive management and co-owners

  • Prepare journals as necessary

  • Support Public Service Commission and Department of Energy reviews, audits, and data request

  • Assist with ongoing evaluation of cost management, accounting, and financial reporting controls for the Vogtle 3 & 4 Project, including testing and documentation of processes

  • Assist with Vogtle Construction disclosure preparation for 10-Q and 10-K filings

Job Experience and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required

  • CPA or CPA candidate preferred

  • Cost analysis and budgeting experience desired

  • Regulatory accounting experience desired

  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple assignments simultaneously and produce timely results

  • Ability to effectively respond to changing business needs

  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with diverse groups

  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Proactive problem identification and resolution

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint and Excel (proficiency in Microsoft Access is a plus)

  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
