DIRECTOR, CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION

- GENERAL SUMMARY*
Reports to the General Counsel – DTE Energy Trading. Responsible to manage the Contract Administration department which currently consists of 6 professionals. The department is responsible for providing the administrative support for all contracts entered into by Energy Trading including commodity contracts related to Natural Gas, Power, Renewable Energy, Financial Trading, Transportation, Storage, and other third party services provided by pipeline companies. In addition, Intellectual Property and facility related purchases and service contracts, including those with affiliates, are handled by Contract Administration. Responsible to ensure all external reporting requirements such as the EQR, licenses and certifications are prepared, maintained and renewed in order to ensure uninterrupted business in accordance with federal, state and utility level authorizations. Must work closely with Legal, front office, gas operations, accounting, internal and external auditors and counterparties to ensure an efficient process is in place to handle the high-volume workload. Also responsible to ensure that all contracts entered into are in compliance with DTE Energy Company corporate policies for the establishment of contracts and signature authority.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES*
Manage staff and supervise all responsibilities of the Contract Administration department including commodity contract and confirmation requests through execution, review of completed contracts and system input, compliance with DTE corporate policies and key controls, internal and external audit requests, maintaining and tracking the status of all licenses and authorizations and prepare staff performance appraisals.
Work closely with Legal, Credit Risk, front office deal makers and counterparties.
Ensure the department fully supports Legal as required.
Ensure the departments’ reporting responsibilities for quarter end audits and the contract portion of the Electric Quarterly Report (“EQR”) are completed within established timeframes.
Prepare the first draft of contracts/confirmations for gas Asset Management Arrangements and other more complicated transactions.
Review, draft and provide input on gas contract special provisions and actively negotiate those special provisions with counterparties.
Provide guidance and train the contract administration staff on specific tasks they are responsible for in order to complete their assignments timely and efficiently.
Review all documents submitted by DTE Energy Trading to participate in Gas and Power FRS auctions.
Performs all other related duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES*
Undergraduate degree in business administration or the equivalent combination of education and/or supervisory or management position leading an administrative or transactional based function with high workload volume.
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the energy business, with a solid understanding of the natural gas business including gas pipelines preferred.
Minimum of 5 years’ supervisory experience.
Must have a demonstrated proficiency with word processing applications, in particular, Microsoft Word.
Must have excellent written, communication and organizational skills and have the ability to interact professionally and articulate problems with the commercial group, counterparties and employees in Accounting, Legal, Credit Risk, IT, Risk Management and internal and external audit, at all levels.
Must have the ability to deal with constantly changing priorities and quantity of work in short order.
