Manage the day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of LFG collection and processing facility. Operate facility in safe and environmentally responsible manner in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations. Perform gas equipment inspections, tests and operational checks. Monitor gas system gauges, electrical and mechanical equipment for correct and safe operation. Work is performed under general supervision, with work results reviewed through the achievement of set goals and adherence to policies and procedures.
Work is performed under general or indirect supervision with results evaluated against achievement of set production goals within spending guidelines. Adherence to laws, regulations, policies, and procedures while exhibiting professional conduct and always using safe practices in an environmentally responsible manner is expected.
Operate and maintain all equipment and assets to achieve performance and production objectives while reducing operating expense and maximizing equipment service life.
Accurately collect, report, and analyze operational, maintenance, and environmental data.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct day-to-day operation, maintenance and repair of an LFG facility, LFG collection system and LFG delivery pipeline. Perform equipment inspections, testing and operational checks. Work is performed under general supervision of a Facility Manager.
Monitor all operating equipment, and adjust (using manual and/or automated controls) as necessary to meet performance and production goals
Record operating data and maintain operating records including weekly production reports
Maintain facility logbook, highlighting activities and noteworthy events
Collect oil, water, wastewater, gas and air samples for analysis
Perform equipment inspections, test and operational checks
Diagnose and correct adverse operating conditions and equipment malfunctions
Investigate mechanical problems, recommend appropriate repairs, replacements and enhancements
Perform minor electrical and mechanical repairs
Perform routine buildings and grounds maintenance and repairs
Maintain spare parts inventory and records
Support, assist and direct the work of contractors on-site
Maintain filing system for drawings, instruction books and manuals
Implement the facility's Safety Procedures Manual and Job Site Conduct Book
Participate in monthly safety audits and inspections as identified in site safety manuals
Assist Gas Recovery Manager and Well Field Technicians as requested
Other tasks as assigned
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
A high school diploma is required. Completion of a Certificate, Associate’s, or Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific discipline (Automation, Instrumentation, Controls, Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Earth Sciences or similar) or equivalent work experience is highly desired.
Must possess and maintain a valid, unrestricted state driver’s license and a clean driving record.
The successful candidate will demonstrate experience and/or ability with:
· Chemical or Natural gas processing and/or transportation; prior experience converting landfill gas to energy preferred but not required
· Operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of:
Instrumentation and Control Systems (HMI, PLC, VFD, Sensors [Temperature, Pressure, Fluid Flow, Level Control])
Rotating equipment (motors, blowers, pumps, fans, compressors, etc.), flow controls (valves, flow meters), burners (flares, thermal oxidizers), and heat transfer equipment (HVAC, heat exchangers)
On and off-road vehicles (scissor lifts, aerial lifts, forklifts, tele-handlers, skid steers, mini-excavators, and ATV/UTV)
· Working independently to analyze problems, develop solutions and make or recommend sound alternatives
· Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with peers, supervisor, management, customers, clients and vendors
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills
· Professional demeanor effectively representing company in various circumstances
· Dedication to safe work practices
· Efficiently handling competing priorities and tasks
· Organization and focus to meet deadlines
· Computer skills, including proficiency with MS Office applications; PLC Programming a plus

The employee in this classification will be required to frequently lift objects of up to 25 pounds in weight. Occasionally, the employee will have to lift or move objects of up to 50 pounds in weight.
Vision requirements for this position include close, distance and peripheral vision, along with depth perception.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to outside weather conditions, including wet and/or humid conditions, and extreme cold and/or heat. The employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and/or machinery. The noise level in the work environment is moderate. Most work is within the vicinity of a municipal solid waste disposal facility. Employee will routinely operate a motor vehicle and/or ATV style off road vehicle on unimproved terrain.
Employee will be required to respond to call-outs (plant upset conditions) within one hour during other than normal business hours and work unscheduled overtime and may occasionally be required to travel to other work locations using personal transportation (travel expense reimbursed within policy limits).
