Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Providestechnicaloversighttoensuretransmissionplanningreliability and market studies areunderstood,impactswelldefined,andstrategiesimplementedtoimprovesystemreliability.

  2. EnsureTransmissionPlanningmodelsareaccurateandconsistentwithplanningandregulatorystandards.

  3. Ensurefuturetransmissionsystemexpansionplansareassessedbasedonneed,reliabilityandservescustomersincompliancetocompanytransmissionplanningandPJMstandards.

  4. ProviderequiredoversighttoensureagreementsareexecutedwithneighboringTransmissionOwnerspriortocommencementofworkasspecifiedbyPJM.

  5. Participate in industry conferences such as FERC, PJM, NATF etc. and develop strategy based on evolving energy policies, procedures and standards.

  6. Lead,directand/orassistwithorganizingandprioritizingworkgroupactivitiesandassigningand/orschedulingworkdutiestomeetcompletiondates.

  7. Evaluatesubordinatesforthepurposeofdevelopingorganizationaltalentandbuildexpertiseinareasrequiredbythedepartment.Developleadershipskillsandcoordinatetechnicaltrainingaspectsforselfandgroupmembers.

  8. Researchandanalyzetechnicaland/orbusinessplans,designs,proposals,projectsorstrategies;provideresultsand/orrecommendationsinsupportofdepartmentobjectives.

  9. Review,reviseandcommunicateDepartment/Section/Groupproceduresinsupportofadministrativeandtechnicalimprovementinitiatives.Responsiblefortheapplicationoforganizationalpolicies.Elevatesandreinforcesastrongsafetyculturewithintheworkgroup,throughdailyleadership,communicationandbehaviors.

  10. Setsprioritiestoensuretaskcompletionandcoordinatesworkactivitieswithothersupervisors,actingasaliaisonwithothersectionsordepartments.

Position Summary:

The supervisor of Transmission Planning is responsible for providing engineering and technical direction during the development and implementation of transmission planning projects, plans, studies, and engineering activities requiring initiative, use of established planning standard and criteria that supports the business consistent with planning regulatory requirements.

Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan. This position receives guidance and oversight from the manager of Transmission Planning. Typically does not perform the work at the level being supervised, but will have individual technical and business related assignments in support of department goals.

Coordinates and supervises the daily activities of individuals in single or closely related fields of professional expertise. Accountable for formal supervision, coaching, counseling, safety leadership and technical guidance to assigned staff in support of producing high quality, timely and cost-effective solutions to technical and business objectives. The position is also accountable for the technical quality of the group’s output and is expected to continuously improve capabilities in this area.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's Degree in science or an engineering discipline from a college or university accredited by ABET or recognized by ABET Bachelor’s degree as substantially equivalent field.

  2. Minimum five years of related engineering experience or related experience in a leadership role.

  3. Working knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards for the specific position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Professional Engineer, registered in Pennsylvania.

  2. Advance degree in Engineering, Science or MBA.

  3. Comprehensive knowledge in one or more areas of expertise is desired to function as a technical leader for important departmental processes.

  4. Demonstrated ability to provide technical direction to technical and non-technical personnel.

  5. Ability to apply comprehensive technical knowledge in supervision and in the completion of assignments.

  6. Sound judgment and strong initiative on resolution of issues.

  7. Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  8. Ability to work well with individuals on all levels of the organization.
