Overview

With minimal direction and guidance, provide technical, analytical, design, and evaluation support for the company's energy efficiency and demand side management programs. Could also be responsible for other customer-facing programs such as for electric vehicles, electrification, and distributed energy resources.

Responsibilities

  • Review energy efficiency and demand side management programs, projects, and technology (HVAC, appliances, lighting, custom, etc.) to define and confirm technical eligibility, energy savings, measurement & verification requirements, documentation, and cost-effectiveness.

  • Models and monitors the performance of energy efficiency programs to ensure their cost, savings, measure mix, customer mix, documentation, and other parameters meet company objectives. Provide technical input to ensure PPL's Energy Efficiency Management Information System (EEMIS) is properly determining and documenting the savings and eligibility requirements for energy efficiency measures.

  • Perform on-site inspections of customers' energy efficiency projects, particularly at commercial and industrial sites, to confirm project information and compliance with program technical, measurement, and verification requirements.

  • Provide input to statewide energy efficiency protocols such as the Technical Reference Manual, Total Resource Cost Test, and Energy Efficiency & Conservation Statewide Evaluation Framework.

  • Perform or review technical studies, market studies, and identify best practices for measurement, verification, evaluation, program design, and emerging energy efficiency technologies. Provide guidance to help the company improve the design, effectiveness, verification, and compliance of its energy efficiency and demand side management programs.

  • Prepare reports for internal management and external stakeholders.

  • Design, implement, and manage special projects such as energy efficiency pilots.

  • Provide leadership in area of expertise for colleagues with less experience. May direct the work of other staff members

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering or science.

  • 5+ years Engineering experience (mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, facilities, commissioning, or process engineer) or 5 years’ experience with energy efficiency program design, contracting, measurement & verification, or consulting.

  • Significant knowledge of energy efficiency programs, systems, and equipment such as HVAC, lighting, motors, refrigeration, water heating, etc., or facility engineering or operations, or energy auditing, or energy management, or energy efficiency measurement & verification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • BS in mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Experience with statistical analysis, including sample techniquesand regression analysis.

  • Professional Engineer's license.

  • Certified Energy Manager.

  • Effective written and oral communication skills.

  • Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to non-technical people.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Effective interpersonal skills.
