Internal Title:

Senior/Lead Experience Designer

Primary Responsibilities:

Performs a variety of complex assignments (may lead some projects) and analyzes and solves complex problems in the below areas (Senior Level).

Leads projects, analyzes and solves complex problems, and recommends solutions in the below areas (Lead Level).

User Centric Design:

  • Analyze the needs and behaviors of target users and understand business and end-user requirements for improving user-interaction and application adoption

  • Conduct, collect and analyze research results, and clearly articulate findings to refine design of applications and user interfaces utilizing relevant web and UI design standards

  • Advocate on behalf of the customer through design thinking and research

  • Work with team to design end-to-end user experiences using methods such as design thinking, observations, usability testing etc.

  • Design and configure interactive, user-centric interfaces utilizing information architecture, interaction design, usability, accessibility and human factors

  • Describe a holistic product user experience, while satisfying business requirements and observing technical constraints

  • Manage user interface design effort, including coordinating the visual design for new/existing products

  • Conduct quality evaluations to ensure the user experience vision, design and standards are being fulfilled by the product and architecture developers

Design Standards:

  • Contribute sound UX / UI concepts including definition of customer needs, task analysis, persona creation, user flows, etc.

  • Design principles may include responsive / adaptive design and consistent / intuitive end-to-end experience

  • Develop user interface standards

  • Conceptualize and champion importance of user centered design


  • Physical presence in the office/on-site to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

  • May be assigned an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role. This is a special assignment that comes into play during storms and other emergencies when the company needs to restore power or respond to other issues affecting customer service. This role may necessitate the need to work after-hours, outside of your normal schedule.

Position Summary:

The Senior/Lead Experience Designer analyzes and defines the needs of the target users (internal and external) and how they perform tasks to create a customer-centric technology solution and interface using latest emerging tools.

The Senior level performs assigned tasks under minimal guidance from supervisor.

The Lead level is recognized as an expert in own area within the organization and works independently, under minimal guidance from supervisor. Progression to Lead level is limited on the basis of business requirement.

Candidate Qualifications:

Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.

The company reserves the right to determine if this position will be assigned to work on-site, remotely, or a combination of both. Assigned work location may change. In the case of remote work, physical presence in the office/on-site may be required to engage in face-to-face interaction and coordination of work among direct reports and co-workers.

Basic Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related work experience OR 8 years of related work experience (Senior Level)

  2. Bachelor's degree and 7 years of related work experience OR 10 years of related work experience (Lead Level)

  3. Mastery of industry-standard design tools (Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, UX prototyping)

  4. Strong relationship management skills, with ability to work on Agile, cross-functional teams

  5. Experience working in a solution delivery environment
