SCADA - Support Engineer/Senior Engineer
- Prepares moderately complex plans and conducts engineering protection and control assignments involving SCADA Automation and substation communications, alone and as part of a team focused on capital infrastructure installation and upgrades. Schedules work to meet completion dates and technical specifications. Reviews design documentation to determine compliance with design criteria and standards.
2 . Design, modify, and update control systems, remote terminal units (RTUs), substation remote access (RSA), substation computers and discrete inter-substation communication systems in support of capital projects and O&M required to maintain standards requirements. Apply expertise in DNP and MODBUS to implement relay & PLC controls integration with control center operator systems. Utilize fundamental understanding of communication protocols (TCP/IP, Telnet, SSH etc.) to support substation communications systems (LAN, WAN, TDM).
Works in a variety of engineering functions either in field locations or in the home office, which may include necessary activities to optimize system/component performance and availability, and analysis for and development of design packages to add/modify systems, components or standards.
Solves a range of moderately complex technical problems or issues. Analyzes possible solutions and assesses each using standard procedures. Applies broad engineering principles to provide technical and cost-effective recommendations that resolve difficult assignments.
Works effectively in a team environment and may assume the role of team leader.
Prepares cost estimates and assists in bid and material procurement contract evaluations.
Assists in the special testing of components, troubleshooting of equipment or process problems or special studies.
Provides technical guidance and recommendations to other PPL employees in support of high quality, timely and
cost-effective engineering solutions to technical problems.
Builds knowledge of the organization processes, customers and wide understanding of the technical and engineering aspect of the equipment and facilities in the function's work scope.
Ensures systems exceed all industry standard requirements through development and implementation of uniform processes based on industry best practices.
Under general supervision, responsible for moderately complex engineering activities including a variety of tasks in transmission facility protection and control including SCADA, automation, and communication. Works independently with minimal guidance using knowledge of engineering concepts in the disciplines required for the specific position. This job is a senior-skill level typically without formal supervisory responsibility, although may supervise one or two less experienced individuals. May provide guidance and direction to other PPL employees to support production of high quality, timely and cost-effective engineering solutions to technical problems.
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.

Bachelor's Degree in engineering or engineering technology from a college or university Discipline required will vary by the specific job requirements.
Minimum 2 years related engineering experience.
