Project Engineering Manager
Ensures the successful management of engineering work performed by internal and external engineering resources to meet the technical requirements and schedule for the assigned project portfolio
Manage and monitors contractor performance and output through performance indicators and challenge reviews, administering the terms of the contract to hold contractors accountable for satisfactory completion to the technical requirements and schedule
Facilitate review process for engineering and design packages produced by engineering contractors. Establish procedures for and manage design package review process and flow of data among assigned internal engineers, contract engineers, etc. and information exchange with the engineering contractors. Facilitate and coordinate PPL input to design and periodic reviews with respect to Operability, Maintainability, Constructability, and adherence to capital budgets. Assure that PPL design standards and general or specific industry standards are being followed
Reviews solicitations and prepares responses for proposals, bids and contract modifications. Manages prompt resolution of contractor issues and change order submittals
Manages design changes for their impact on project cost & schedule, coordinating with project team and PPL leadership as needed to advise on scope changes and impact.
Responsible for coordinating information between projects, EU leadership, regional groups, and other internal organizations throughout the life cycle of the project. Enhances team performance by serving as an engineering team leader and presents the results of the work group’s efforts. Interfaces between the different engineering disciplines and groups supporting a project to ensure that all technical objectives of the project are met.
Supports project manager by assessing technical options to resolve in-flight issues, project coordination, contract administration, material tracking, scheduling and cost monitoring. Uses strong engineering principles to provide technically correct and cost-effective recommendations that solve design concerns.
The Project Engineering Manager is the single point of accountability for oversight of design, engineering, and technical issues for large PPL Electric Utilities transmission / substation capital projects managed by T&S Field Teams. The position is responsible for managing the engineering work performed by internal and external engineering resources to ensure the technical requirements and schedule are met. The position bridges the boundaries between engineering and project management, ensuring timely resolution of technical issues and provides contractual oversight of engineering consultants throughout the project lifecycle. Must be capable of coordinating and influencing a wide range of functional organizational leads and subject matter experts across the lifecycle process to accomplish the goals and objectives of the organization.
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration. In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
1.Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering discipline from an ABET accredited university. 2.Minimum of five (5) years of experience in transmission / substations. 3.Progressive supervisory experience leading a group of engineers and/or project engineers / design engineers. 4.Organizational, communication and people skills. Strong customer focus.

Regular or Temporary:
1.More than 5 years of field design and construction experience. 2.Certified Project Management skills recognized by PMI. 3.Knowledge and understanding of the EU business (capital and expense components as well as specific job skills related to transmission and substations) plan. 4.5 years supervisory experience. 5.Ability to lead and work well with individuals at all levels in the organization. 6.Strong decision-making skills. 7.Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that persuades others and gains understanding. 8.Strong understanding of contracts and contract management.
