Overview
Purpose
This position is responsible for providing support to the Absence Management Department regarding Short Term Disability (STD), Long Term Disability (LTD), FMLA, Parental Leave, and work injury cases. This includes coordination of many data points in multiples systems to process employees leave in accordance with the policy and procedures of the company for union and non-union employees.
Responsibilities
Core Capabilities
Manage incoming and outgoing communications for the team.
Serve as employee and business resource related to Family Leave, Short-Term Disability, workers compensation, and occupation health.
Provides expert level of information and guidance to employees and leaders on Sick Pay, Temporary Disability Insurance (TDI), parental leave, LTD, Paid Family leave, Sick Family, and Military leave
Works proficiently in AM database (Cority).
Provides a high level of customer service with accurate, timely and helpful information in accordance with the policy and procedures of the company.
Handle the day-to-day Leave of Absence (LOA) mailbox by supporting the Absent Management (AM) team on the specific needs including Sick Leave End Date (SLED) calculation, length of employment, time coding, and wage information.
Manage digital documents for uploading and filing.
Provide timely reports and feedback as it relates to the status of employee leave to the employee, manger, vendor and/or AM team.
Audit pay process in accordance with company policies as it relates to employees with LOA/Worker’s Compensation (WC) cases.
Participate in and support the team with specific projects as it relates to leave administration and compliance.
Work daily in Microsoft email, teams, excel, Adobe and various vendor applications.
Assigns tasks within the system including reminders for forms needed and return to work communications.
Knowledgeable regarding the ADA interactive process, reasonable accommodations and able to effectively discern next steps for escalation on all types of leave or accommodation requests.
Supports Worker’s Compensation claims including offset letters.
Supports the day-to-day relationship with Third Party Administrator including interpretation and application of established contractual agreements and state laws.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience on a year for year basis.
Experience managing absence management programs and processes.
Demonstrated knowledge of leave processing and applicable state family leave regulations and laws
General understanding of Worker’s Compensation regulations
Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality, flexibility and effectively prioritize and multi-task a variety of responsibilities.
Innovative, adaptable team player able to adjust focus and attend quickly to changes in team and employee priorities.
Detail oriented with strong research/analytical skills and interest in continued growth and learning.
The ability to develop rapport well and work with a variety of personalities at all levels.
Reliable and works well independently to efficiently and effectively complete all assigned responsibilities.
Learns quickly and displays a sense of urgency and exceptional communication skills (oral and written) with a desire to build long, lasting relationships.
PC proficiency with working knowledge of Microsoft Office (word, excel, Outlook, Adobe, etc)
Ability to learn and navigate various vendor platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in absence management (short term disability). Previous work with Sedgwick is a plus.
