Energy Efficiency Consultant
Reviews commercial & industrial customers’ energy efficiency project proposals to define and confirm technical eligibility, energy savings, measurement & verification (M&V) requirements, and cost-effectiveness.
Determines the method to calculate energy and peak load savings for energy efficiency projects and measures such as HVAC, lighting, motors, refrigeration, and other commercial/industrial equipment and custom applications, particularly in commercial and industrial facilities.
Provides input to statewide energy efficiency protocols such as the Technical Reference Manual, Total Resource Cost Test, and Energy Efficiency & Conservation Statewide Audit Plan.
Provides technical input to ensure PPL Electric Utilities’ Energy Efficiency Management Information System (EEMIS) is properly determining and reporting the savings for energy efficiency measures.
Identifies M&V and emerging energy efficiency technologies and best practices, acts as a resource and provides advice to other PPL staff, and applies this information to help PPL Electric Utilities improve the design, effectiveness, verification, and compliance of its Act 129 energy efficiency programs.
Participates in on-site inspections of customers’ energy efficiency projects, particularly at commercial and industrial sites, to confirm project information and compliance with program technical, measurement, and verification requirements.
Conduct analyses and prepare reports for internal management and external stakeholders.
Assists in the design and implementation of the energy efficiency tracking system. Acts as a backup for the EEMIS administrator.
With moderate direction and guidance, perform technical review, determine energy savings, and verify technical compliance of customers’ projects in PPL Electric Utilities’ Act 129 energy efficiency programs.
Candidates must meet the basic qualifications and pass all required tests or assessments to receive consideration.
In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States and to complete the required employment eligibility form upon hire.
BS in engineering, science, or associates degree in engineering technology or facility engineering.
3 years engineering experience (mechanical, electrical, chemical, industrial, facilities, commissioning, or process engineer) or 3 years experience with energy efficiency program design, contracting, measurement & verification, or consulting.
Working knowledge of energy efficiency programs, systems, and equipment such as HVAC, lighting, motors, refrigeration, water heating, etc., or facility engineering or operations, or energy auditing, or energy management, or energy efficiency measurement & verification.

Regular or Temporary:
BS in mechanical or electrical engineering.
Experience with statistical analysis, including sampling techniques and regression analysis.
Professional Engineer’s license.
Certified Energy Manager.
Effective written and oral communication skills.
Ability to clearly communicate complex technical issues to non-technical people.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Effective interpersonal skills.
