Development Engineer - DER
Technical lead on the Project Development team providing support to pre-NTP development activities
Works closely with Project Development team to support site selection
Develop strategies for active projects to mitigate project risks discovered during development.
Supports RFP responses
Leads efforts with internal resources and contracts with third-party providers to complete due diligence on project sites including environmental reviews, permitting processes, constraints mapping, and preliminary engineering.
Leads the interconnection study process for all assigned projects.
Maintain close coordination with the Project Development team. Detailed activity and status reporting is required including preparation of budgets and maintenance of CRM
Required travel up to 50% of the time.
The candidate for this position should be flexible and capable of working in a dynamic team of professionals and be familiar with US power markets and renewable energy development. The candidate must be a hands-on, hard-working team player who can offer creative approaches to securing revenue contracts for projects. The Development Engineer is self-motivated and has the ability to work well under pressure, multitask, and the flexibility to shift priorities as required. Key skills include:
Highly proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, and PVSyst.
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Basic understanding of solar project development and finance concepts
Ability to read and understand engineering drawings, legal documents, and revenue contracts
Resourcefulness, a meticulous eye to detail, and investigative skills are essential
Passion for renewable energy and responsible development.
The Development Engineer will be an integral part of the Project Development team helping to ensure the acquisition and development of the most competitive projects in the market that are consistent with the standards of PPL Renewables.
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or project management preferred
Minimum 1-3 years of experience in a project management role preferred.
Experience negotiating contracts with external consultants.
Experience with solar or renewable energy development preferred
