You will be responsible for supporting NERC regulated infrastructure, including related components, and applications for Power System Controls (PSC) environment to ensure availability, reliability, and security, with a focus on generation applications and hardware. The infrastructure includes HP and Dell server and workstation, and other appliances hardware, virtualization technologies, server and workstation OSes (2008/ 2012/ 2016/ Win7/ Win10), supporting components/applications, and a variety of applications. Serving as the Systems Administrator, System & Application Support, you will perform tasks focused on hardware and software evaluation, infrastructure monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintenance (i.e., OS/ Firmware/ Software installs/upgrades/patches), incident management, change management, problem management, and compliance. This position plays an instrumental role in supporting complex technical solutions. Please note, this role serves in an on-call capacity.
Monitor, support, and maintain a large, complex, and NERC regulated compute infrastructure per predefined standards and guidelines, industry best practice, including install, configure, and update/patch OS and OS patches.
Troubleshoot software and hardware compute infrastructure (servers, workstations, and appliances) and application issues.
Perform user account administration, and user support.
Coordinating activities involving clients, IT teams, and vendors in the day-to-day operations and maintenance of our systems.
Create, review, and modify operational processes and procedures documentation.
Working with business clients and IT partners to maximize the value of the PSC managed applications.
Perform analysis, provide recommendations to other groups, using knowledge of infrastructure configuration and capability, application flows, and use of monitoring tools.
Ensuring maintenance and support activities are in compliance with NERC CIP.
Support compliance and audit activities.
Supporting critical applications, including after-hours and tier-2 support.
Performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Six (6) or more years of experience maintaining and supporting enterprise software systems and applications.
Able to travel throughout SCE’s service territory to perform maintenance tasks as needed.
Available for on-call duties including scheduled and unscheduled evening and weekend work.
Experience performing patch management, regression testing, functional testing and configuration and release management of enterprise or other complex applications.
Experience with installing, maintaining, and troubleshooting software and hardware Windows desktops/laptops issues, user account administration, and user support.
Experience ensuring system improvements are successfully implemented.
Experience working on issues involving and impacting leading edge and/or future technologies and business issues to accomplish short-term & long-term business objectives.
Experience providing continuity with other IT teams and the vendor to ensure coordinated maintenance, support and compliance for applications.
Experience working with vendors and handling all escalated system issues to proper closure.
Experience identifying and evaluating risks and participating in mitigation efforts to maintain the high availability requirement of the applications.
Ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, handle risks appropriately, manage information, and provide extraordinary service to internal and external customers.
Effective, decision making, results delivery, team building, and the ability to stay current with relevant technology and innovation.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Computer Information Systems, or similar technical major/ discipline.
Familiar with supporting Ovation, HMI, SEL, DFR, SCADA systems/applications, or Security System Applications.
Microsoft Systems Engineer (MCSE/ MCSA), VMWare, Citrix and/or ITIL Foundation certifications.
Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship.
Relocation does not apply to this position.
This position will require on call/after hour support.
This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
