The position is responsible for providing technical consultation and support to all distribution projects that align with future Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications roadmap. The successful candidate will be performing complex analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations to address complex technical issues as they relate to Real-Time reliability operation and control of an electric utility as well as lead the implementation and deployment of the replacement, upgrade, or enhancement of a Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications. The candidate will also work closely with the business clients to understand their requirements and ongoing strategy in order to provide technical solutions for meeting their short term and long term business goals. The position will also work with other SCE team to ensure the Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications meets the standard as well as adhere to the policies and in compliance with NERC and FERC.
Consult on complex technical issues associated with Real-Time Advanced Applications Tools (e.g. Power System Network Modeling, State Estimator, and Contingency/Security Analysis, Voltage and Var Optimization, Fault Location Isolation & Service Restoration, optimal Power Flow and Real-Time Study environment), Remedial Action Scheme Applications, Control Applications, and Dispatcher/Operator Training Simulator.
Lead the evaluation, development and implementation of the new, enhancement, upgrade or replacement of Power System Network Modeling and Applications and providing consultation to Senior Management of the company.
Represent SCE in establishing Real-Time Advanced Applications Tools standards and guidelines with CAlSO, WECC, and participating in NERC and FERC committees to establish Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications standards and guidelines.
Conduct training and provide directions to other power system engineers in the operations and maintenance of Real-Time Power System Network Modeling and Applications, tools and processes.
Performing other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
BA degree in Engineering
8 years of engineering experience
5 years of experience in the field of Real-Time Power System modeling and applications for the electric utility industry.
Master’s degree in Engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) License in Electrical Engineering
Knowledge of NERC and FERC regulations.
Analytical skills to troubleshoot complex problems related to Real-Time Power System modeling and applications.
Excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
Experience implementing and changes to the Real-Time Power System modeling and applications environment.
Strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
