In this job, you’ll be part of a team responsible for repair, install, test, replace, inspect, and maintain computers and computer support equipment within the subsystems associated with Process Control Computer Systems.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Provide maintenance support to our Process Control Computer Systems including logic boards, auxiliary memory, disk drives; Input/Output and Interface Systems including remote terminal units; Human Machine Interface Subsystems including displays, keyboards, video walls; Data Communication Subsystems including modems, multiplex, data circuits, media converters, tone transmitters and receivers; Analog Control Subsystems including time standard equipment, frequency detection and control equipment, digital chart recorders.

  • Support Equipment Subsystems including uninterruptible power systems, air-conditioning systems, water cooling/heat exchangers, fire detection and suppression systems, auxiliary generators, automatic electrical switchgear, electrical switchboards, electrical wiring installation.

  • Keep blueprints, wiring, and logic diagrams updated.

Qualifications

The essentials

  • Associate degree in Electronics, Electric Engineering, Computer Technology, relevant technical field, or equivalent experience with SCADA systems or Process Control Systems.

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean abstract.

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds with little to no assistance.

  • Must be able to travel frequently throughout Southern California Edison’s 50,000 square mile service territory, including to remote rugged locations and some overnight travel.

  • Advanced electrical and electronic theory to include solid state, integrated circuit technology, and computing technology, as applied to digital data acquisition, digital computer systems, analog metering and control systems, and communication systems.

  • Apply required knowledge and work from written or oral instructions, blueprints, factory maintenance manuals, component data books, wiring diagrams, logic diagrams and schematic diagrams. Use advance analog and digital test equipment such as datascopes, storage oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, db meters, frequency selective voltmeters.

The preferred

  • Knowledge and/or experience supporting SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition).

  • Nomenclature and function of apparatus required to install, replace, test, inspect, maintain or repair, down to the component level, process control equipment and related facilities.

  • Communicate effectively with Grid Operations personnel, other craft personnel, and external customers.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in electronic technology training

  • Three (3) or more years of experience with solid state, integrated circuit technology, and computing equipment.

  • Position will require up to 70% traveling and being out in the field throughout the SCE service territory.

  • Relocation does not apply to this position.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
