The Director Business Applications has a deep and extensive knowledge of the electric utility business and experience using technology to solve business problems. Responsible for implementing strategic, operational and financial plans related to Cleco’s applications, with impact at an enterprise level. Responsible for establishing and meeting both IT and corporate metrics and results. Achieves results by directing, overseeing and coordinating strategic functional activities, procedures, and resourcing, and ensures they are in line with the corporate strategy. Responsible for the performance and development of managers and high-level technical employees in the digital applications organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform business and technology planning with leaders in Utility and IT

  • Develops product vision, strategy, and road-map together with Product Owners, Product Vendors and business stakeholders

  • Reviews emerging technologies with the perspective of potential application in resolving a business problem

  • Participates in activities as part of IT leadership

  • Integrate the financial needs of Capital and O&M into the overall budgeting process to meet corporate financial and budgeting requirements

  • Directs the design and maintenance of a best-practices-based new product strategy and supporting processes that will deliver target success rates, including internal process excellence and external market outcomes

  • Oversees the development and management of the product life cycle plans for products in their platform

  • Identifies and executes cross-functional value creation and process improvement opportunities with key internal business partners

  • Aligns the overall business processes across the organization to optimize end to end process thought and optimization

  • Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements such as SOX or FERC.

  • Builds and maintains relationships in IT and Utility; promotes communications and collaboration

  • Align the skills of internal, onshore and offshore resources in a coherent and efficient delivery service

  • Promote effective communication between internal, onshore and offshore resources

  • Leads the coaching of direct and indirect reports

  • With minimal guidance, align all products in landscape with business requirements and vendor upgrade requirements

  • Work with Legal, Purchasing and others in contract negotiations taking into account business and legal risks

  • Deliver complex projects which may require the participation of many vendors from different products and disciplines

  • Provide general oversight of projects which are assigned to IT area of responsibility

  • Master’s / Bachelor’s degree Business, Finance, Computer Science or related field required

  • 15+ years of related experience required

  • 10+ years people management experience required

  • Knowledge of ERP such as SAP required
