Associate Director, NM Ops Project Management

Salary Grade: G03

Minimum Midpoint Maximum

$121,529 - $164,065 - $206,600

This position is covered by NERC CIP cyber security standards. Prior to being hired, promoted, or transferred into the position, the candidate must successfully pass a Personnel Risk Assessment, which includes identity verification and a criminal background check. Prior to being granted unescorted access to cyber secure areas, the candidate must attend cyber security training. Annual cyber security training is also

required.

SUMMARY:

Responsible for the overall direction and allocation of resources for team providing the project management, construction, and construction management for the company's transmission and distribution infrastructure. Manages specific budget and staffing necessary to meet the above duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Responsible for and directs activities for the construction of transmission and distribution systems for New Mexico operations

Resolves conflicts related to the construction of these systems among other PNM groups, consultants, and contractors

Directs and oversees the large construction project management involved in the coordination and overall management of large electric transmission and distribution projects

Provides planning, direction, inter-division, motivation and group coordination necessary for the achievement of the company goals and critical success factors

Coordinate and controls budget and oversees administrative duties including performance reviews, hiring, and payroll

Plays a major role in negotiating and managing construction and maintenance contracts for projects, professional services, materials, and equipment

Provides a work environment conducive to safe, efficient work

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs traditional management duties, including hiring's, terminations for cause, employee development, and performance management.

Supervises and trains assigned staff including organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.

Responsible for employee development and performance management skills.

Assigned staff may range from highly independent professionals to non-exempt clerical personnel.

COMPETENCIES:

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university with seven to nine years of experience including two years of management experience and five years of project management experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.

Masters degree and two years of utility experience preferred.

CERTIFICATIONS, LICENSES, AND REGISTRATIONS:

Professional Engineering license is preferred.

Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is required.

Construction Project Management certification is preferred.

Six Sigma certification is desired.

Must possess a current, legally valid drivers license and meet the company's driving record requirements.

COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write complex reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Ability to translate business strategies into tactical plans.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:

Ability to solve complex practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Ability to integrate technical solutions into larger corporate directives and goals to insure compatibility.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Working knowledge of MS Project, MS Excel Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software, MS PowerPoint presentation and various portfolio and project management tools.

Working knowledge of database, inventory, and other industry relevant software.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit up to 2/3 of the time.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

Some out-of-town and overnight travel may be required.

Some work in the field may be required

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Office environment with occasional visits to the field.
