National Grid Consumer Clerk A in Albany, New York

Job Responsibilities:

We are presently seeking a Consumer Clerk A for an opening in Albany. In addition to a starting wage of $31.57 per hour, we offer excellent benefits including medical, dental, life insurance, 401(k) plan, vacation, tuition assistance and more.

In this position under direct supervision in the Consumer Relations Department you will perform duties such as:

  • General clerical and typing functions and process routine incoming and outgoing data.

  • Communicate with customers or their representatives for scheduling and initiation of appointments for other department employees.

  • Order and maintain stock and materials.

  • Schedule conference rooms and office appliances and equipment.

  • Initiate phone contact following definitely prescribed Company procedures for the purpose of energy conservation and/or marketing.

  • Input and retrieve departmental data, type reports, memorandum and correspondence using the available office machines.

  • Maintain files and records in connection with these duties.

Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to type with speed and accuracy; satisfactory completion of validated skills testing (keyboarding), as determined by the Company.

  • Capable of being trained in generally accepted office equipment and appliances;

  • Ability to satisfactorily interact with customers, outside agencies and other departments in connection with job duties.

  • Ability to handle duties that require independent judgment.

  • Ability to make arithmetical computations.

  • Familiarity with computer applications normally required in a business environment.

  • Must have a High School diploma or equivalent

$31.57 an hour

Many of the terms and conditions of employment for this position are defined by a collective bargaining agreement that the Company has with a local union. Newly hired employees are bound by the terms of the collective bargaining agreement as well as other agreements between the Company and the local union.
