Xcel Energy is expanding our customer contact center by hiring more virtual employees in the Alamosa, CO area, and we are looking for motivated individuals to join our team. Successful candidates will work from home permanently, however, should be within one-hour of the Alamosa Service Center (400 Washington Ave).

Onboarding and new hire training and actual work arrangement will take place virtually. To accommodate this, all new hires will need to have access to reliable high-speed internet, and a place in their home or other location where they are able to work without interruption.

The position starts at $14.25 per hour with shift and Bilingual premiums available.

Training Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:30am – 5:00pm; permanent schedule options with start times between 8:30am and 10:30am as well as a weekend rotation will be reviewed during information sessions.

Position Summary

The Credit and Collections Associate II's primary responsibility is to provide accurate information to Xcel Energy customers in a professional and efficient manner by anticipating the customer’s needs, and satisfactorily resolving issues with one contact. Accountable for individual performance indicators of Credit and Collections and productivity to ensure the overall financial objectives are achieved. Regular, reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Resolve customer inquiries concerning all credit and collections issues in a timely manner. Perform consistently to meet objectives and goals. Demonstrate personal accountability in areas of dependability and time management. Handle customer inquiries in an environment that requires a high tolerance for stress. De-escalate customer issues in a professional and respectful manner.

  • Performs other duties as assigned including work on special projects as needed.

Minimum Requirements

  • 1+ year credit/customer service experience.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both written and verbal.

  • Ability to research and resolve complex customer issues and possess strong decision making and analytical skills.

  • Problem Solving Skills.

  • Negotiation Skills.

  • Navigate multiple computer systems and applications.

  • Bilingual/Spanish experience is a plus.

  • Military Experience considered.

Steps in Xcel Energy’s hiring process

  1. All qualified candidates will be sent an online assessment via e-mail. Applicants must successfully pass in order to be further considered.

  2. Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be contacted to come in for an information session and interview.

  3. After attending our information session/interview, our Team Leaders will calibrate to decide which candidates are best qualified and offers will be made.

  4. Candidates who accept the employment offer will be required to pass Xcel Energy’s background check and drug test. This process can take up to two weeks before clearance is issued.

  5. After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
