Xcel Energy has the need for one or more 1st Step Apprentice Lineman in Alamosa, Colorado.
The Utilities group has a need for one or more 1st Step Apprentice Lineman. The Utilities Group is responsible for the Construction, Operations, and Maintenance of electric Distribution lines and supports other areas when the need arises.
The successful candidate must have the physical ability, endurance, and desire to perform potentially strenuous outdoor work, at all times of the day and night, and under various weather conditions.
The successful applicant will be expected to respond to emergency callouts after normal work hours and on weekends.
The successful applicant must live within 30 minutes/30 miles of the assigned Service Center in geographic areas outside of Metro Denver.
The successful candidate must be able to perform safe, proficient, and effective pole-climbing.
Applicants must be self-motivated, work well with others, have a positive attitude and be committed to working safely and productively.
Minimum Requirements :
High School Diploma or GED
Must have a valid unencumbered Colorado Driver’s License or ability to acquire within 30 days.
Must have, or obtain within six months of start date, a valid CDL and pass a DOT physical
Applicant is required to successfully pass the Xcel Energy drug and alcohol screening requirements
Must be of adequate physical stature to:
Lift and maneuver up to 70 lbs. alone and over 70 with assistance
Climbing wood poles up to 50’ tall and up to 100’and work in an efficient and safe manner
Use shovels, sledge hammers, jack hammers, and other various tools
Work in confined spaces
Work in elevated positions
May necessitate travel at times.
Must exhibit a team-work attitude and be able to work with others.
Must be able to communicate, to comprehend instructions and build on learning from apprenticeship classes and on the job training.
Technical school Lineman degree is preferred.

All qualified candidates will be sent an online assessment via e-mail. Applicants must successfully pass in order to be further considered.
Candidates who successfully pass the assessment will be contacted to come in for an information session and interview.
After attending our information session/interview, our Team Leaders will collaborate to decide which candidates are best qualified and offers will be made.
Candidates who accept the employment offer will be required to pass Xcel Energy’s background check and drug test. This process can take up to two weeks before clearance is issued.
After successful passing of the background check and drug test, candidates are ready to start the training class.
