About the Opportunity

This is an open position with FirstEnergy Service Co., a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp.[SC00]

FirstEnergy Corp. is currently looking to hire a Summer Intern to work at its corporate headquarters in downtown Akron, OH. The Summer Internship session runs from May 21st, 2018 till August 10th, 2018. This position will report to the Director of Investor Relations. Candidates will assist and support the Investor Relations team communicate the FirstEnergy investment proposition to Wall Street Investors. This experience will give you the opportunity to work with employees at all levels across the organization.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Gathering best in class examples of disclosures from utility peers and Fortune 500 companies

  • Working with Communications to redesign the Investor Relations disclosure materials

  • Delivering the daily stock report to Senior Management

  • Attending meetings with Senior Management and Investors

  • Reviewing earnings transcripts of peers to recommend topics of interest by the investment community.

  • Shadowing the second quarter Earnings call.

Qualifications Include:

  • Must have the ability to work without sponsorship (now or in the future)

  • Currently enrolled within a Bachlor's Degree program focusing on Finance, Communications, Marketing, or related discipline.

  • Must maintain a 3.0 GPA

  • Strong knowledge of MS Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

  • Must work effectively in a team environment and on concurrent assignments

  • Must be willing to relocate to / reside near the job location for the duration of the assignment (some candidates may be eligible for a living stipend)

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Strong analytical skills to resolve problems and think creatively

  • Organizational skills to prioritize and plan work, multi-task and meet schedules

  • Highly motivated to work independently and productively.

  • Sound time management skills

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to make formal presentations to various audiences

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a team

  • Willingness to undertake assignments involving unfamiliar subjects, with the aptitude to learn quickly.

  • Ability to rapidly learn new skills, apply them to work situations, and expand job capabilities

  • Ability to work in a virtual environment (working with remote co-workers using virtual technologies)
