We have recently embarked on a Digital transformation journey where we are reimagining the way we work and serve our users. Our projects benefit the community by aiding in providing safe, reliable electricity to everyone:

  • Customer: create analytics to improve customer satisfaction along the customer journey for a lifetime as they move-in to a residence, pay their bill and move to new residences.

  • Transmission & Distribution: develop algorithms to detect asset failures, reduce outages and provide reliable electricity to customers.

  • Smart Meter: provide customers with the electric usage they need to make smart decisions about their home as well as reduce threats and theft in the electric system.

What you’ll do:

As a Head of Design at FirstEnergy, you create, own, and evangelize the vision and purpose of Design throughout the organization, more specifically:

Establish the Digital Capability at FirstEnergy

  • You will advocate for user-centered design-thinking methodology throughout FirstEnergy

  • You will develop metrics to effectively showcase success of UX improvements

Engage in Digital Activities and Drive Use Case Execution

  • You will drive end-to-end digital product & service design process across business units (e.g. Customer, Transmission & Distribution, etc.) leveraging expertise in strategy, research, UX design and visual design

  • You will ensure solution in development aligns to company and product brand standards, and push to extend, especially on the digital side where appropriate

  • You will take a cross-channel, service-oriented view and ensure consistency in solutions

Build, Upskill, and Guide the design team

  • You will mentor colleagues with various tenures on the design process and its value

  • You will build traction and toolkit for design methods to spread within Digital Factory, Innovation Center & FirstEnergy

What You Will Need to be Qualified:

Experience

  • You have a degree specialization in Human Computer Interaction (HCI), interaction design, or related field with 7 years related experience required. In lieu of a degree, you have 9 years of related experience.

  • Related experience includes, but is not limited to: UX/UI Design, Design Research, Agile and Scrum methodologies, leadership.

  • You understand utilities business or has worked in diverse industries and has proven track record to pick up new industries context quickly

  • You have experience building, coaching, and developing high-performing design teams through evangelizing design methodology in a corporate environment

  • You have developed a distinct point-of-view around design methodology and user-centric thinking

Skills

  • You have deep expertise in strategy, research, service, experience, and visual design skills

  • You are a strong storyteller who can synthesize abstract ideas into concrete implications for design

  • You are collaborative, curious, empathetic, open-minded, innovative

Physical demands

  • You are able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed
