POSITION SUMMARY: The Sourcing Analyst provides support to Category Managers in Strategic Sourcing and Buyers in the Supply Chain Support Center by reviewing and planning for major opportunities to leverage enterprise-wide spend and reduce Consumers Energy costs associated with procurement of external goods and services. The Sourcing Analyst will be responsible for collecting and analyzing data related to materials and services spend review market trends, and benchmark pricing data; comparing that data to the CMS spend and usage to identify opportunities. This role will primarily use a third-party analytical software to process data, identify trends and patterns that may result in potential improvement, and monitor industry trends and be aware of relevant economic and business factors.
The Sourcing Analyst reports to the Analytics Manager and supports strategic and operational procurement processes. The Analyst prepares historical and projected demand and unit price analyses and reports and should have skills and expertise in Data Analysis to help drive predictable outcomes.
Position Accountabilities: The Sourcing Analyst’s primary accountabilities are as follows:
Data Gathering: This person will develop an expertise for major spend categories or key business processes and intuitive market knowledge expertise. It will be expected for the Sourcing Specialist to keep up with supply market trends, supplier economics and intuitive translation to potential CMS business impacts.
Data Analysis: Uses data analysis tools and concepts and standard systems (e.g., SAP, third-party intelligence) to conduct analysis and prepare reports. Builds and maintains reports to streamline analysis. Communicates findings and recommendations to SC and Business Partners in non-technical language. Communicates and supports enterprise standards for procurement policies, processes, and procedures, and the “CE Way.”
Collaboration with Supply Chain and Business Partners: Works collaboratively with Category Managers, Inventory Analysts, Buyers, and Business Partners to design and execute required analysis and reports. Provides supporting documentation, analysis and recommendations to enable key business decisions in the selection of suppliers, purchases, negotiation of prices, development and administration of contract to deliver annual improvements in total cost. Collaborates with Business Partners and other SC departments to clarify questions and improve analysis while maintaining high internal customer satisfaction. Helps identify and implement leading practices for SC analysis.
Continuous Improvement: Supports the framework, metrics, and goals for continuous improvement. To achieve process excellence and stay current with industry innovations, the Analyst employs and helps identify additional leading practices. Supports communication of initiatives and improvements to Business Partners as appropriate.
BA, in Business, Finance, Supply Chain or other related field or equivalent experience/training. Less than a Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by extensive Company or industry experience in positions that demonstrate required abilities and performance
