The Security Operations Engineer is primarily responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of computing solutions to ensure the security of Consumers Energy corporate systems by monitoring and maintaining security platforms and through direct and indirect interaction with business partners. The Security Operations Engineer will fulfill request tickets, respond to incidents, perform troubleshooting and provide general maintenance and update support, working with systems, hardware, software, and variety of technical and non-technical teams to deliver adequate security controls and solutions to mitigate risks while meeting the business objectives.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Perform troubleshooting and maintenance of Security platforms.
Fulfill requests and respond to operational incidents in the team's ServiceNow queue including but not limited to:
Endpoint Security Policy
Cloud Security Policy
Execute process improvement and maintain operational documentation.
Engage in Business Partner consultation and customer experience management.
Develop, tune, and monitor key operational performance metrics for security platforms to ensure system health and availability.
KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS / ABILITIES
Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and standards to meet security and business needs.
Ability to create and maintain security policy for Enterprise Firewalls, Cloud Security Solutions, Network Proxies, Endpoint Security Solutions, or similar Security Policy knowledge.
Working knowledge of network concepts.
Awareness of Security concepts and trends.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate clearly with internal customers at all levels.
Technical understanding of common enterprise operating systems (Ex. Enterprise Linux, Windows, etc.)
Ability to participate in after hours on-call rotation.
A minimum of 3 yrs of IT or Security experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer information systems, computer science, computer engineering, information assurance/information security, or equivalent combination of education & experience
5 or more years of IT or Security experience preferred
Security Certifications (ex. Security+, GSEC, etc.) preferred
Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) preferred
