Consumers Energy MR&C Engineering Resource Planner/Scheduler (SR TECH ANALYST I) in ADRIAN, Michigan

POSITION/LOCATION

The MR&C Engineering Resource Planner/Scheduler can be based in any of our Michigan locations and is eligible for hybrid work. This position will be required to Go Where the Work Is across the state of Michigan based on business need.

JOB DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES

The MR&C Engineering Resource Planner/Scheduler leads a team responsible for planning the engineering and design workload and advising the MR&C Engineering team on resource usage and needs. The lead creates and maintains multiple reports and metrics such as the demand vs resource usage report, AFC (Approved for construction / released on time), jobs at risk, etc. Reports that are required will need to be created and maintained. This position will be required to supervise contract employees.

This position requires a significant amount of coordination between various stakeholders and teams. Examples of this coordination might include coordinating schedules between MR&C Engineering resources (Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Design, EI&C Engineering and EI&C Design), Transmission Pipeline Engineering, Distribution Pipeline Engineering, Storage Engineering and / or Enterprise Project Management and/or Operations.

Must be able to adjust to shifting priorities and reschedule the team’s engineering workload. Previously displayed job performance relating to priority management is a requirement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders in the development of the workplan

  • Collaborate with engineering leads to coordinate resources to meet deadlines and optimize resources

  • Provide planning and scheduling reports, and communicate required metrics

  • Coordinate resource schedules with project schedules using Primavera software

  • Create and revise standards and processes in a timely fashion to reduce struggle and eliminate waste

  • Participate in and support CE Way activities including DOR’s, Problem Solving and Process Documentation and Improvement as required on the MR&C Engineering Team

  • Offer recommendations on adjusting workload so that priority projects are completed on time.

  • Conduct problem solving sessions as required to improve metrics

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

The MR&C Engineering Resource Planner/Scheduler role will be filled as a Sr. Technical Analyst I based on the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, AND five (5) years of related technical work experience

(OR) Associate’s degree, AND a minimum of nine (9) years of related technical work experience;

(OR) If no degree/credits, thirteen (13) years of years of related technical work experience

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Natural Gas Pipeline/Regulation project experience

  • Primavera (Oracle) P6 experience

  • Presentation skills required in meetings and in training

  • Ability to read blueprints and technical documents
