About this position:

The Instrument, Controls and Electrical (IC&E) Technician is responsible for troubleshooting and repairing all instruments, control systems, and electrical equipment at the South Dakota Generation facilities. The IC&E Technician assists with predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance tasks' and is highly skilled in inspecting, testing, installing, and removing all electronic equipment and systems.

    About this job:

  • Perform preventive maintenance duties on all major equipment and systems as well as emergency backup systems

  • Maintain complete equipment files, logs, and drawings for all designated equipment

  • Keep track of spare parts as they are used and complete a usage report in order to replace items as necessary; assist in physical inventories with other co-workers

  • Participate in the administrative maintenance of the plant operating manuals, technical references, prints and diagrams, and preventive/predictive maintenance records

  • Inspect, repair, install, and remove all types of motors, generators, transformers, switches, control equipment, wiring, electrical signal and communication systems, and storage batteries; operate with electrical systems up to and including 4160 volts

  • Use hand tools, power tools; operate heavy equipment machinery such as forklift and bobcat

  • Conduct trouble shooting and analysis on DCS, PLC, and combustion turbine control equipment

  • Work overtime including participating in on-call rotation schedules, working evenings and weekend shifts in response to acute service needs

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Work in all weather conditions

  • Lift up to 75 pounds from floor level to waist level on a minimal basis

  • Travel to meetings and training

  • Travel up to 25% and stay overnight on occasion

  • Demonstrate and maintain a good safety record

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • 4 years' experience with electrical power generation operations, maintenance or similar discipline

  • Technical Degree in Instrument Technology or similar field is preferred

  • Experience working with voltages up to 4160 volts is preferred

  • Combustion Turbine & Reciprocating Internal Combustion Engine operations and maintenance experience preferred

  • Valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record

  • Arc Flash Training preferred

  • Commitment to safe working practices and knowledge of safety policies and procedures
