Oversees all aspects of operations and maintenance for multiple power plants including plant managers/personnel.
Lead and direct day-to-day operations of Entergy Texas, Inc. fossil generating facilities to ensure safe reliable and compliant performance. This includes providing leadership and direction to the management team to ensure the organization’s strategic plan is translated into tactical goals and objectives that guarantee performance objectives are met or exceeded.
Drive safety performance and culture at all locations and at all levels of management. Instill a public and employee safety mindset that results in a safety culture and an injury free work environment.
Lead and support strategic planning processes to balance funding and operational objectives – driving value creation for Entergy’s Utility jurisdictions
Monitor the business environment and industry trends and adjust the organization to gain optimal performance.
Role model Entergy’s Leadership Practices and Shared Values by building an accountable and decisive leadership team that consistently focuses on driving maximum value creation for Entergy’s Utility jurisdictions.
Drive the organization’s culture to focus on greater accountability and performance. Facilitate a culture of trust, empowerment, engagement, and solution development. Raise the level of talent at all levels of Power Generation through the implementation of training, development programs and improved hiring practices. Focus on developing leaders and creating a path for employee development.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of regulatory standards, laws, and company policies in the area of safety, environmental, NERC, and SOx. Ensure that a strong culture of compliance is maintained and that operations are maintained within applicable laws, standards, and company policies.
Lead emergency and storm response efforts – ensuring the protection of employees, public, and company property
Develop and maintain harmonious working relationships with other members of the Power Generation Lead Team, departments, and company personnel to maximize the value of the entire Fossil fleet to Entergy’s Utility jurisdictions.
Major responsibilities for divisional financial performance, system reliability and asset protection.
Establish and maintain productive relationships with Labor Unions. Represent the Company and lead negotiation of collective bargaining contracts.
Typically requires a college or university degree in related field or the equivalent work experience.
10+ years relevant and progressive leadership and technical experience in power plant (or similar industrial plant) operations, maintenance, and/or capital project development
Experience leading /managing large project implementations and related budgets, personnel, risk and contingency plans.
Experience working on engineering standards, designs, or projects, and understanding of plant modification and engineering review/response processes.
Demonstrated ability in recruiting and developing individual contributor and leadership talent.
Experience in overseeing the planning and execution of power plant outages. (preferred)
Demonstrated success in leading cross-functional teams and/or major corporate initiatives. (preferred)
Labor relations (including grievance dispute resolution and collective bargaining negotiations)
Critical Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Knowledge and technical expertise in power plant operations and maintenance—understanding the key drivers for safe, reliable, cost effective and compliant operation
Proven ability to quickly assess the business, identify key issues affecting poor performance, and implement successful solutions.
Regulatory knowledge (e.g. OSHA, NERC, FERC, EPA, other…) associated with operation of a power plant
Financial management skills
Ability to develop and manage a budget
Business Acumen/Industry knowledge (regulated/non-regulated environment)
Broad business knowledge with understanding of how utilities make money in a regulated market
Ability to think strategically and plan for the future while still focusing on day-to-day operations.
Ability to manage multiple priorities--effective prioritization of competing issues, recognizing relevant constraints and opportunities
Managed a geographically dispersed operations team of at least 200 employees.
Ability to lead organization through change management initiatives
Leadership skills, including the ability to effectively coach others and hold employees accountable
Ability to communicate clearly, consistently, and diplomatically to all levels of organization, including executives, and in public forums.
