This position will report to the Manager-Distribution Design-Central and the position and will be located in Winter Garden, Florida.

This is the third level of the non-Engineer degreed technical support role job classification. The successful Engineering Technologist III is an outstanding customer communicator and customer advocate that provides technical expertise to solve more complex problems and has leadership skills to provide oversight and direction of work in a specific area of expertise, with some supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced technical and soft skills to increase their ability to work with a high degree of independence.

This position will perform the major projects engineering role of work order planning, designing, preparing, and administration of work related to the annual Work Plan, Power Quality Reliability & Integrity improvements, and infrastructure improvement projects such FDOT and other governmental road and conversion projects, as well as other assigned projects. This will also include complex and/or large scale new customer work. Projects range from relocation of a single pole to multiple work request projects with overhead and underground construction for large scale, complex feeder relocations including preparation of utility work schedules. This position is accountable for coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project details are communicated and the work meets mandatory construction completion deadlines. The selected candidate will be required to meet with internal and external customers to determine project needs, assess job site conditions, and design the most efficient and economical solution to meet the project demands and timeline. Collaboration with other Duke Energy work groups is required to maintain a high level of service consistency.

Either 3 years of relevant industry experience coupled with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 5 years of experience and Associate Degree in Engineering Technology (or equivalent), or 9 years equivalent experience without a degree Valid Florida driver’s license Desired Qualifications

Experience with electric utility distribution engineering Experience with electronic drawing tools Experience using work management and geographic information systems Experience designing large distribution feeder and road projects Experience with GIS, WMIS, Maximo, CSS/CIS, SEDS, CIAC Wizard Effective use of productivity software such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint Experience in the utility industry specific to electric distribution systems Demonstrated ability to work with a variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds Very organized and self-motivated Excellent customer communication skills Excellent technical communication skills Proficient in applying principles of project management
