Key Roles

To ensure proper, accurate, and timely completion of various accounting applications, taxes, records, and financial reports within the established policies and requirements of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), various regulatory agencies (RUS, IRS, KY Revenue Dept., etc.) and East Kentucky Power Cooperative.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily processing of time and labor and verifying accuracy of reporting.

  • Prepares, balances, and coordinates biweekly, quarterly, and year-end taxes and necessary tax forms. Balances monthly general ledger activity report for tax accounts.

  • Runs bi-weekly interface with general ledger.

  • Wires funds and performs extensive spreadsheet entries.

  • Maintains all confidential files relating to payroll functions.

  • Teams with information technology representatives to maintain the system and initiate improvements for more efficient work processes.

Job Requirements

Key Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related area required. Accounting degree preferred, but if in related area, a minimum of 18 hours of college level accounting is required.


  • Five (5) years of related experience. Any equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Rural Development Utilities Programs (RDUP) accounting preferred. Knowledge of FERC and RUS accounting requirements preferred (Plant Accountant).

  • Knowledge of Excel and PeopleSoft applications.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.

  • Must use discretion when dealing with sensitive accounting documents.
