Asset and Maintenance Management Engineer I
The Asset and Maintenance Management Engineer will provide support to the Asset and Maintenance Management group and the department for enterprise-wide policies, procedures and guidelines that promote efficient maintenance and utilization of NYPA’s physical generation and transmission assets, compliance and work practices.
Perform as a support engineer function in support of a wide range of electrical equipment operations and maintenance activities.
Perform inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification and trouble shooting, or improvements under the guidance of a senior engineer.
Higher level of maintenance interaction and identifying issues
Review work, including the designs and specifications, produced by other engineers.
Provide office and field engineering support and oversight during construction or outage activities.
Ensure deadlines are met as assigned by supervisors.
Assist the supervisor in the coordination of work with other disciplines and departments for the successful development and execution of the project.
Gather information (site, vendors and other engineers) for engineering task.
Ability to apply knowledge of engineering principles and practices, coupled with the understanding of the NYPA’s policies, operations, and objectives, to solve engineering problems, and make technical recommendations on design methods and obstacles on a project as well as programmatic level.
Knowledge of and a working familiarity with current codes, standards, and regulations.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
High computer literacy.
Demonstrated performance on team projects.
Ability to produce clear, concise, complete and articulate reports which explain recommendations.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Strong presentation skills.
Ability to work at elevated positions (comfortable with heights)
Approximate 10% travel within NY State and international to witness equipment factory testing and repairs
Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent, from an accredited college or university
Minimum of 3 years applicable work experience
Knowledge of maintenance practices
Position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience, this may be lower than this posting.
