Financial Reporting Analyst

Basic Function

Provide support for the company’s external reporting requirements, including assistance in the preparation of financial statements in accordance with the United States Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), applicable Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) regulations and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements. Assist with the employee benefit plan reporting requirements and external reporting and audit process. Provide support on other financial reporting and technical accounting functions as necessary.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Form 10-Q and 10-K footnote disclosures and supporting documentation.

  • Create and analyze monthly, quarterly and annual reports and ensure financial information has been recorded accurately. Leverage analytics to support management discussion and analysis in SEC filings; draft related commentary.

  • Prepare and maintain quarterly reporting calendar. Manage timeline and deliverables from key personnel to ensure timely and accurate completion of SEC filings.

  • Review and analyze information received for completeness and accuracy and compare support to various financial reports.

  • Maintain financial reporting SOX support to ensure compliance.

  • Assist with eXtensible Business Reporting Language (XBRL) mapping and maintenance.

  • Support regulatory reporting and associated audits.

  • Research and benchmark company disclosures and XBRL to other SEC financial filings.

  • Prepare and review employee benefit plan financial statements and assist with audit process.

  • Assist with research, implementation and analysis of effects of new authoritative accounting guidance or SEC compliance initiatives.

  • Collaborate with Treasury department on bank compliance reporting; prepare covenant financial ratio calculations.

  • Coordinate with Corporate Communications on earnings press release and annual report to shareholders.

  • Special projects as needed to support the technical requirements and process improvements of the functions.

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration; three more years experience in a financial reporting role. Ability to meet deadlines and work autonomously as well as in a team environment. Strong organizational, communication and analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to multitask and prioritize in an effort to satisfy multiple requests and deadlines. Strong computer and software application skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office. Experience with Showcase Strategy and Workiva Wdesk external reporting software a plus. Prior SEC reporting experience or Big 4 accounting desired. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licensure a plus.
