The role of Senior Contracts Manager sits within Offshore Operations reporting to the head of O&M; Services.

Description

A significant role within the Iberdrola Global Offshore business, this role will lead in the management of contracts within the O&M; Offshore business. This role will assist in implementing a change, a Variation and a Claim management system and in negotiating claims and variations on existing contracts. That will include working closely with teams from the Construction, Operations, Legal, Insurance, Financial and Group Purchasing teams to ensure contracts are managed effectively.

The individual will be working as part of a global business with activities in many countries across Europe.

ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Supporting the Business Manager with the management of contracts for the Offshore O&M; Services on projects worth in excess of €1 billion;

  • Assisting in managing and coordinating advice on key commercial risks under existing supply chain contracts;

  • Support in negotiations of claims and variations with contractors;

  • Undertaking detailed contract reviews and advising on how to interpret and apply key contract provisions on the day-to-day operational clauses of the contract;

  • Providing analysis of commercial issues, with options for resolving issues, in line with existing contractual arrangements while ensuring an appropriate balance of risk;

  • Preparing recommendations on the management of key commercial risks, while taking into account the impact on interfaces across contracts and impact on programme;

  • Monitor and anticipate claims made by contractors under the contracts and assist in developing mitigation strategies in line with the contract terms;

  • Support in preparing notes of advice and commercial drafting on claims and variations;

  • Providing recommendations to the business on commercial issues arising in contracts;

  • Analysis of key risks in new contracts and assistance in providing recommendations for changes required to provide the interests of the project;

  • Facilitate delivery of the project’s interests in negotiating with the contractors;

  • Ensure SPR best practices and processes are implemented and applied in contract management ensuring involvement and interfacing with key company functions such as Purchasing, Insurance, Financial, Legal, etc.

Requirements

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

  • Hands-on experience of negotiating and/or managing a high volume of contracts at the same time on major infrastructure projects over €50m;

  • A solid understanding of the complex commercial requirements related to supply of products/materials andservices to offshore wind projects;

  • Detailed contractual knowledge, including the day-to-day operational provisions, and particularly the claims, variations and disputes mechanisms;

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation

  • Strong self-performance management and delivery focus with the ability to balance conflicting requirements on quality, costs and time;

  • Strong team worker;

  • Good all round understanding of financial, commercial and business principles and risk mitigation practises;

  • Strong influencing, interpersonal and change management skills;

  • Strong negotiating and persuasion skills, as well as excellent written and oral communication skills;

  • Proven ability to persuade, challenge and build credibility at all levels and across functions of the business;

  • Ability to be proactive and take responsibility for matters, while responding to competing business demands and reporting to the Head of O&M; Services;

MINIMUM CRITERIA

  • Degree level qualification or equivalent

  • Proven experience of negotiating and delivering projects and contracting advice;

  • Ability to manage the negotiation of multi-contracts in competing timescales;

  • Knowledge of health, safety and environmental legislation associated with construction projects;

  • Strong ability to manage own performance, with a significant focus on delivery and an ability to balance a varied and challenging workload, whilst producing high quality results in demanding timeframes

  • Desirable previous Offshore O&M; Wind experience.

  • Grade OL18

  • Salary from £60,400 per annum

  • Bonus up to 20%
