South Jersey Industries Residential Sales Representative in United States

Basic Function:

Work directly for South Jersey Gas promoting the conversion of heating equipment and appliances to natural gas to homeowners in Southern New Jersey. The Residential Sales Rep will increase market penetration in designated residential areas through new customer acquisition, as a result of homeowners switching to natural gas from alternate fuel sources, while promoting the benefits of energy efficiency products, programs and services.

Responsibilities:

The Residential Sales Representative will be responsible for originating and generating leads through cold calling and door-to-door sales techniques. Must exhibit excellent communication skills, organizational abilities and follow through skills. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM system a plus. To be successful in this role the ideal candidate must be customer focused and self-directed, assertive and motivated by customer satisfaction, goal attainment and high earnings potential.

Residential Sales Representatives are compensated through a plan that includes a base salary and uncapped commission for meeting and exceeding sales targets.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required. College education or degree is desirable.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ outside sales experience, with at least 3 years in successful direct sales in a commissioned sales environment.

  • Real estate, insurance, copier and other door to door sales professionals are encouraged to apply.

  • Must have cold calling and door to door sales experience.

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding sales goals.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Ability to persuade, influence and negotiate effectively at all levels within and outside the organization.

  • Exceptional time management, prospecting and presentation skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain relationships with customers in a competitive environment.

  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to work as a team member, as well as independently. Ability to be creative while performing in a fast paced work environment.

  • Highly motived and results driven.

  • Proficient in using a CRM system, preferably Salesforce.
