Electric Line Technician – Journey Level

The Journey Level Electric Line Technician is responsible for performing a wide variety of skilled activities in the installation, maintenance, switching and removal of overhead and underground electrical distribution and transmission systems. In this role, you will be responsible for, but not limited to:

  • Installing underground or overhead electrical lines by laying pipe, pulling wire, and setting meters

  • Constructing, maintaining, and testing electrical systems and related equipment

  • Repairing, maintaining, and troubleshooting street light systems, poles, luminaries, and circuits

  • Switching or rerouting electrical systems using proper sequencing and connections

  • Assuring compliance with safety standards and work practices

  • Operating line construction vehicles and equipment including wirepullers, bucket and boom trucks, and various hand tools

  • Preparing materials for line construction and charging materials to appropriate job

  • Logging completed work orders and preparing reports

  • Assisting in training Line Technician apprentices

  • Complying with the safety and health program in support of an incident and injury free workplace

The successful candidate will be subject to working in adverse work and weather conditions and is subject to overtime and stand-by hours.

What will it take to be successful? The successful candidate will have will have successfully completed a certified Line Technician Apprenticeship program, have a valid CDL Class A driver’s license. The ideal candidate will also have at least two to four years’ experience working as a journey level line technician.
