POSITION DESCRIPTION* *
Reports to the Manager, Environmental Geosciences
Lead the development and implementation of technical programs related to inorganic geochemistry including PHREEQC modelling and assessment of existing and planned waste management facilities at AREVA’s Canadian properties
Provide project management support to department projects including planning, scheduling, budget and tracking of related timelines, actions and project milestones
Prepare documentation in support of scientific studies, environmental assessment, follow up programs, and licensing of mining and related projects
Coordinate the contributions of technical specialists in the development of project outputs
Effectively communicate to internal and external audiences, including regulators, on issues related to geosciences and/or geotechnical issues
Preparation of technical reports for a variety of intended audiences ranging from internal circulation to regulatory review
Work as a team member and/or oversee in the preparation of documentation in support of engineering and scientific studies, environmental assessments, follow-up programs, and licensing of mining related projects
Provide technical leadership to site operations staff in the areas of environmental and /or geochemical monitoring, reporting, and resolution of technical issues your expertise
Supervise and/or manage contractors and consultants conducting engineering and scientific studies

All candidates must meet the following minimum requirements in order to be considered for this opportunity. Candidates who exceed minimum qualifications may be considered for a higher level position.
A university science or engineering degree (bachelors or post graduate level) in geochemistry and/or hydrogeological disciplines, or the equivalent in education and experience.
10 years’ experience in a regulatory environment dealing with provincial and/or federal legislation
Project Management experience
Familiarity with geochemical modelling tools such as PHREEQC
Good written and oral communication skills
Ability to work collaboratively with personnel within department and from other departments as team member and team leader to achieve project outcomes
Ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with peers, other departments and consultants in a diverse, multi-cultural project team
Ability to excel in a multi-disciplined team environment
Co-ordinate activities, information, materials or resources within own area of responsibility to meet tight deadlines and work under time pressure
Ability to work both in an office environment and also in the field
Required to have or to develop a sound knowledge of the company’s operations and the technical requirements imposed by legislation and various permits and licenses
Stay current with technical advancements in the geochemistry area as they relate to and are potentially applicable to implementation at the sites
PLACE OF WORK:
Primarily based in the Saskatoon Corporate Office - Monday to Friday 40 hour work week
Periods of field work at McClean Lake Mill and/or AREVA sites across Canada will be required on occasion
